Jacob Kellner Found Dead in Memorial Park Cemetery

Police suspect foul play in the death of the man, who police later identified as Jacob Kellner. Police said Kellner was fully dressed.

Detectives said it`s unclear how long Kellner`s body had been there.

Chauncey McNair Murdered on Lynton St

Officers are trying to figure out who shot and killed a 31-year-old man early Monday on Lynton Street, off Norwood Avenue, in the city`s Tallulah neighborhood.

The Jacksonville Sheriff`s Office found Chauncey McNair lying in the road off Norwood Avenue about 2:20 a.m. Monday, Jan 16th, with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he died. 

Family members told News4Jax that the house where McNair was shot was not his home, and they don`t know why he was there. 

Investigators are searching for the gunman and checking the neighborhood for surveillance. They have not released any suspect information.

Two Shot at The Jacksonville Landing

Monday`s double shooting at the Jacksonville Landing that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy was connected to a double shooting of two teenagers at the downtown Art Walk 10 days earlier, and Sheriff Mike Williams said Tuesday the shooting was likely gang-related.

Khamoi Petersen died after the Monday afternoon shootings and a 13-year-old boy also shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has not been named.

Jahleel George Homicide on Jacksonville's Westside

On Monday, January 9th, around 4:30 am, the Sheriffs Office responded to the 5200 Block of Woodcrest Rd. regarding a deceased individual.

The man was later identified as 21 year old, Jahleel George. According to the police report he was found shot to death in his kitchen.

2 Die in New Years Day Shooting in Springfield

Police said Kareem Hagan, 22, died after the 3:53 p.m. shooting at the intersection of 18th and Main streets, which in the greater Springfield area, but outside the historic Springfield zone. On Monday, police said 17-year-old Marquis Marquez died of his injuries at UF Health Jacksonville.

Traffic Homicide of Kyle Gay
January 03, 2017

Police said Kyle Connor Gay, 23, was walking south on Rowe Avenue at about 1 a.m. Sunday, pushing a shopping cart, when he and another person were struck from behind by a car near Gainesville Road off Lem Turner.

Police said a light-colored vehicle struck the men, who were both taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where Gay died. The second person`s injuries were described as non-life-threatening. His name was not released.

Kyle Gay`s shopping cart was left mangled from the impact.

Police are searching for the truck, which possibly has front-end damage. They said the driver turned left on Gainesville Road and never turned around.

George DeCosta Murder on Droad Street

Police identified the victim as 46-year-old George DeCosta.

Homicide detectives said they don`t know what led to the gunfire or who fired the shots. They were looking for witnesses and gathering evidence. K-9 teams were brought in to help search the area.

Rowe Avenue between Christobel and Briley avenues were closed while police investigated.

On Sunday, November 13th, 11 month old Tedashi Williams, his mother, 22-year-old Kadejah Williams, and 18-year-old Xacia Burnem were  killed in a shooting on Cleveland Road in a parking lot across the street from the Cleveland Arms Apartments.  Police Need Your HELP!

Thomas Peterson Jr. Shot at 11th and Spires
November 09, 2016

A teen was shot Saturday night, Nov. 5th and died from his wounds after friends brought him to UF Health, the Jacksonville Sheriff`s Office said. 

16-year-old Thomas L.Peterson Jr. arrived at the hospital at about 5 p.m. Investigators later figured out he was shot near W 11th St. and Spires Ave. in Northwest Jacksonville.

The vehicle Peterson arrived in, a four-door Honda, was taken from the scene by detectives.

Officers do not know how many times he was shot.

Almost 2 Years Ago-16 Year Old Devron Crowden Was Gunned Down Waiting for His School Bus
November 09, 2016

Crowden`s body was found lying in the road near the bus stop. Family members said Crowden was a Raines High School student who was a member of Grand Park Athletic Association and played football there. Crowden`s mother had just dropped him off at the bus stop so he could catch the bus to school.

A short time later, officers responding to a report of gunfire found Crowden`s body with multiple gunshot wounds. Neighbors said they heard as many as 15 shots and more than a dozen shell casing markers could be seen at the scene.
