Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in a road Wednesday, July 24th, evening on Jacksonville's Westside.
At about 10 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Prospect and West 12th streets. According to Sgt. Vorpahl, a man between the ages of 20 and 25 was found dead in the road.
The man was later identified as Darren Carter, was shot at least once, Vorpahl said. There was no information about the shooter.

2 Women Shot on Woodcrest Road

On Wednesday, July 17th, at 9pm, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to Woodcrest Road, where they found two women between the ages of 20 and 30 shot. Investigators said the women had pulled up to a house in a car, and someone in another car drove up and opened fire.
One woman was said to be in critical condition, while the other was stable. Police believe between 30 and 40 shots were fired.
Officers said they were looking for a white, four-door car. They did not have a make or model of the vehicle.
According to a police report, the suspect vehicle followed the two women, indicating they were targeted. While one man drove the car, the shooter stood up through the sunroof and fired from that position, the police report said. One woman was hit in the back of the head and the other was hit in the thigh. That woman was attending the other woman when police arrived.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - If you feel like you hear about a homicide every day in Jacksonville, you're not far off. On average, the city hasn’t gone more than 2½ days without a homicide since the year began.
In the first six months of 2019, 74 adults and seven children were killed in Jacksonville. That's 81 homicides in this city in six months.

Dari'one Flanigan Killed in Double Shooting at BP on North Main Street

On Monday June 24th, A young man died after a double shooting at a BP gas station in the Springfield area.
Sources on Wednesday identified him as 18-year-old Dari'one Flanigan, who was an aspiring rapper. Social media has been flooded with messages from his family and friends who are heartbroken over his death.
Flanigan's mother said her son had big dreams. She has been posting on social media, saying her biggest fear has become a reality.
According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report, police responded about 5:30 p.m. Monday to a shooting on Main Street just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.

Dewan Glover Shot Outside Westside Home

An 18-year-old man shot outside a home in the Sweetwater neighborhood on the city's Westside about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, died hours later at UF Health Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said. Family members identified the victim as 18 year old, Dewan Glover.
Police received several 911 calls about gunfire in the neighborhood just off Firestone Road. The call was upgraded to a person shot as officers were en route. Arriving officers found the teenager in a next-door driveway suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Glover died later at UF Health.

16 Year Old Adrian Gainer,Jr. Gunned Down in Hilltop Parking Lot

A vigil was held Wednesday to remember a 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Hilltop Village Apartments and call for justice in his death.
As friends and relatives gathered under a gazebo to pay their respects to Adrian Gainer Jr., his mother, Elizabeth Gainer, spoke out about the pain she and her family are enduring.
No arrests have been made. The motive for the shooting is unclear and family members suggested it's uncertain whether Gainer was the intended target or a victim who was mistakenly identified as a target.

On Thursday, Feb 14th, several people were shot at a Jacksonville's Elizabeth Powell Park on Redpoll Ave. near New Kings Rd
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office website identifies Denim Jorey Williams as the teenager who was killed. News4Jax had already learned that Titus Mobley, the father of a 2-year-old girl, was the other person who died that night. Two other victims, whose names and ages were not released, were shot in the legs and are expected to recover, according to police.
Police said these shootings grew out of a fight on the basketball court of Elizabeth Powell Park on Redpoll Avenue, just west of New Kings Road. It's not known why several spectators opened fire in the park just before 7 p.m.
The Sheriff's Office has not named any suspects or said any arrests were made.
