Armed Robbery in the City of Champaign
July 22, 2019

On July 14, 2019 around 10:20 a.m., a female suspect entered the Family Dollar located at 1204 N. Market St. in Champaign brandishing a firearm. The suspect pointed the firearm at the clerk and demanded money. Becoming impatient, the suspect yelled, “You’re taking too long!” and fired one round into the wall. No one was injured during the robbery.
 
The suspect was described as a black female, 24-25 years of age, 5’02” to 5’06” tall with a dark complexion and short hair. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue bandana over her face, a black Puma hooded sweatshirt, and white/black basketball type shorts. The female may have fled the area in a white Prius style vehicle.

Theft and Credit Card Fraud in the City of Champaign
July 15, 2019

On July 9, 2019 at 3:05 p.m. officers responded to a theft at Aldi’s, located at 801 W. Interstate Drive in Champaign. Upon arrival, officers learned an elderly customer had her purse stolen from her shopping cart. The customer reported being distracted by a male asking questions, and when she turned back around her purse was gone. Credit cards from the purse were later used at Walgreens in Mahomet for purchases of over $1,000.00.
 
The suspect who stole the purse was captured on video. She appeared to be an older black female with gray hair, 5-foot-tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue jacket and pants with a black shirt. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the suspect who was captured on video.

Burglaries to Motor Vehicles in Champaign
July 08, 2019

Sometime between June 25, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. and June 26, 2019 at 9:15 a.m., several vehicle burglaries occurred in northeast Champaign, many from the Ashland Park Subdivision. Mainly items of monetary value have been stolen such as cell phones, computers, CD’s, headphones, wallets and cash which were left in the unlocked vehicles.
 
A person of interest was caught on camera checking for unlocked vehicle doors. The subject appears to be a darker-skinned male wearing a white hat, gray jacket, dark pants, and black shoes. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the subject who was captured on video.

Two Residential Burglaries in the City of Champaign
July 01, 2019

On June 24, 2019, between 4:00 a.m. and noon, two residential burglaries occurred involving the same suspect. The first burglary occurred in the 1300-block of N. Neil St. in Champaign where an electric wheelchair valued
at several thousand dollars was stolen from a covered garage. Later that morning the suspect was seen riding the stolen wheelchair while carrying a  television, believed to be the television stolen from the second burglary
in the 400-block of Briar Lane.
 
The suspect was described as a black female in her 30’s, 5’5” tall weighing 200 lbs. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue pants with her hair in a hairnet. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the subject who was captured on video.

Six Burglaries in Champaign County
June 24, 2019

Six burglaries occurred to storage units in the east part of Champaign County (primarily the Ogden and St. Joseph) area over the past one and a half months. The vast majority of these burglaries have happened during the evening to early morning hours. The suspect(s) appear to be using bolt cutters to gain access to the storage units.
 
There have been two different vehicles captured on video during the time period of the burglaries. One of the vehicles appeared to be a smaller van or SUV with something affixed to the roof. The other vehicle appeared to be a smaller dark 4-door sedan similar to a Nissan Versa.
 
After gaining entry into the storage units, the suspect(s) stole various items consisting mostly of fishing equipment. One of the notable items taken was a Chrysler brand 25hp outboard motor.


Shooting in Urbana
June 17, 2019

On June 8, 2019 at about 7:20 p.m., two black male offenders, age approximately 18-25 years old, approached the 800 block of N. Romine in Urbana through an alleyway and began firing guns. A nearby house and vehicle were struck by the gunfire. The suspects ran off heading westbound through the alley.

Two Shoplifting Incidents in Champaign
June 10, 2019

On June 6, 2019 at approximately 1:31 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s located inside the mall at 2000 N. Neil St. in Champaign for a reported shoplifting. Two suspects had entered the store and stole merchandise
valued at $490.00.
 
On June 6, 2019 at approximately 3:03 p.m., shortly after the first theft, the same two suspects shoplifted at Meijer’s, located at 2401 N. Prospect Ave. in Champaign. The two suspects entered the store, selected items and again left without making payment. The loss amount at this store is unknown at this time.
 
The suspects were described as a black male and black female, 25-35 years of age. The male was last seen wearing a black do-rag, blue/green/white jacket, white shirt, and black pants. The female was wearing a blue jean jacket, red shirt, and blue jeans. The subjects left the area in a red Dodge SUV.

Shooting in Champaign
June 03, 2019

On May 4, 2019 at approximately 3:40 a.m., police officers responded to Country Brook Apartments in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue for the report of a shooting. Shortly after arriving on scene, police learned one adult was struck by gunfire during the incident and had just arrived at a local hospital.

Criminal Damage to Vehicles in Mahomet
May 28, 2019

In the overnight hours of Sunday, May 19, 2019 through Monday, May 20, 2019, tires were slashed on vehicles in the 400 block of Peacock Drive and in the 400 block of Dorchester Drive in Mahomet. Both cars belonged to high school students. No other damage was reported.

Retail Theft in the City of Champaign
May 20, 2019

On March 31, 2019 at approximately 11:48 a.m., two suspects entered Carter’s located inside Market Place Mall at 2000 N. Neil Street in Champaign. The suspects, a male and female, began selecting merchandise and concealing items in bags and in the female’s purse. The couple left with over $1600.00 in clothing.
 
The male suspect was described as a black male, 6’0” tall, 180 pounds, and was wearing a blue track suit. The female was described as a black female, 5’8”, 170 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, black pants, and carrying a maroon purse.

Theft in the City of Champaign
May 13, 2019

On February 12, 2019 at approximately 12:57 p.m., a male suspect entered Insty Prints at 1822 Glenn Park Drive in Champaign just after an employee had went to the back office. The suspect went behind the counter and took a handful of $20 bills from the register. He then fled when confronted.
 
The suspect was a tall white male, 25-35 years of age, and was last seen wearing a brown leather type jacket and gray jogging pants. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the subject who was captured on video.

Armed Robbery in Rantoul
May 06, 2019

On April 16, 2019 at approximately 4:29 a.m., a suspect entered the Casey’s General Store, located at 300 S. Century Blvd. in Rantoul, and displayed a knife to the employee. The suspect demanded money from the employee and then fled the business. The suspect was observed running eastbound from the business with an undisclosed amount of money.
 
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6” tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt which was closed tightly around his face, and dark-colored pants.

Two Bank Robberies in the City of Champaign
April 15, 2019

On March 30, 2019 at approximately 10:16 a.m., a suspect entered the First Midwest Bank, located at 812 W. Springfield Ave. in Champaign, and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The suspect was described as a white male, 6’04” tall, wearing a fake beard, black cap, black jacket and blue jeans. The male left with an undisclosed amount of money.
 
On April 6, 2019 at approximately 9:12 a.m., a second robbery occurred at the Regions Bank located at 111 S. State St. in Champaign. As in the previous robbery, the suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money. However, this suspect was described as a black male, 6’00” tall, 150 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black hat, black jacket and dark pants. This suspect also left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Burglary in the City of Champaign
April 08, 2019

During the early morning hours on Monday, March 11, 2019 an unknown suspect forced entry into Jon’s Pipe Shop located at 44 E. University Avenue in Champaign. After entering, the suspect remained inside the business for an extended period of time. During this time the suspect took several items before fleeing the scene.
 
Surveillance footage was able to capture the following suspect during this incident. The suspect is described as a white male, heavy set, with two unique tattoos. One tattoo is located on the right upper arm and appears to be
a cross-like design, while the other tattoo is located on the left upper arm and appears to be a revolver.

Credit Card Fraud and Theft of Lost/Mislaid Property
April 01, 2019

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a victim's wallet was stolen from Walgreens, located at 407 E Green St. in Champaign. The debit card within the wallet was then used late that night and on February 14, 2019 at various places in Champaign.
 
The suspect that used the credit card is a black female in her mid-twenties. The suspect is described as having  long black hair in braids with large eyes. The suspect was wearing gray sweatpants, a white shirt, and a black jacket when seen on video.

Counterfeit $100.00 Bills Presented at Local Convenience Stores
March 25, 2019

On Monday, February 11th at 11:15 PM two black males and one black female entered the Casey’s General Store on east University Avenue in Urbana. The female and one of the males presented fake $100.00 bills to purchase lottery tickets, drinks and cigarettes. The same suspects returned on February 13th and attempted to present $100.00 bills but were rejected after the bills were determined to be counterfeit.
 
On Monday, February 25th at 8:30 AM a middle-aged black male and female entered the Circle K on north Cunningham Avenue in Urbana. The male was wearing a Los Angeles Raiders cap, glasses and a waist length shearling-type leather coat with fur inside. The male purchased lottery tickets and presented two $100 bills which were later determined to be fake. The female bought gas and a soda before leaving the scene.
 
On Thursday, February 28th just before 8 PM, a lone black male wearing a distinctive nearly knee length shearling-type leather coat entered the Walgreen’s on south Philo Road in Urbana. He presented two fake $100.00 bills to the clerk to reload a debit card.

Shots fired in Rantoul
March 18, 2019

On Thursday, March 14, 2019 at approximately 13:36 hours, officers were dispatched to the area of Bel Place and Bel Air Dr. for a report of possible shots fired. Officers responded to the area and spoke with several area residents who reported hearing two gun shots in the area. Officers were initially unable to locate any evidence of a shooting.
 
As the investigation progressed officers located two victims who reported they arrived at a residence in the area and observed three male subjects nearby. One of the three male subjects then fired two shots from a handgun at the two victims. The two victims went into a residence while the three suspects fled the area on foot. No injuries were reported and no damage or evidence was located.
 
The suspects were described as three teen-aged African-American males, two wearing dark colored hoodies and the third wearing a gray-colored hoodie. Police do not believe this was a random act.

March 04, 2019

On January 25, 2019 at approximately 7:05 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Fairfax Drive in Champaign. Upon arrival Officers located one male victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Further investigation revealed unknown suspects entered the residence before brandishing a firearm at the occupants. A struggle ensued, and the victim was subsequently shot multiple times.
 
The suspects were described as two black males approximately 30 years of age.


Retail Theft at Walmart in Champaign
February 25, 2019

On February 18, 2019 at approximately 6:05 p.m., officers responded to a shoplifting at Walmart, located at 2610 N. Prospect Ave. in Champaign. Walmart loss prevention reported a white male suspect had attempted to steal three arcade game consoles valued at over $600.00. The suspect was acting suspicious, leaving his cart several times and walking to the front of the store to speak with a black male, then he left the store and returned wearing different clothing.
 
The suspect was described as a white male in his 30’s with short shaved hair and a brown goatee. The first time the suspect arrived he was wearing a black hoodie and jeans. When he returned the second time, he was wearing a black zip-up jacket and a red/black trapper style hat.

Burglaries in Urbana Scottswoods Subdivison
February 18, 2019

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s assistance in solving approximately ten (10) burglaries that have occurred in the Urbana Scottswood Subdivision area over the past two months. The majority of the burglaries have occurred during the daytime to evening hours. The suspects appear to enter the residences through rear unlocked windows, which are often bathroom windows.
 
The suspect or suspects will rummage through the residence and flee the home through a back door. It appears the suspect(s) are targeting the homes when the owners are not present.
