Armed Robbery of Circle K in Champaign
December 18, 2017

On December 10, 2017 at 11:57 a.m., a male suspect pointed a handgun at an employee at the Circle K, located at 59 E. Green St. in Champaign, and demanded money. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money
and merchandise from the store.
 
The suspect was described as a black male, 20-30 years of age, 6’ tall with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, white shoes, and was carrying a black backpack.

Armed Robbery of Lucky Star Food and Liquor in Champaign
December 11, 2017

On Saturday November 25th, 2017 at 11:36 p.m., Champaign County Deputies responded to “Lucky Star Food and Liquor” at 2108 E. University Ave. in Urbana for an armed robbery that just occurred. Three (3) suspects entered the store wearing masks, and held the employee at gun point, while they took U.S. currency, a black Cobra GPS, alcohol, and scratch-off lottery tickets.
 
The 3 suspects then left the store and climbed over the fence located on the east side of the business which led into Woodland Acres Mobile Home Park (2200 E. University Ave) where it is believed their vehicle was parked. The
vehicle (unknown colored SUV) exited Woodland Acres and turned eastbound onto University Ave.
 
Suspect #1 was a medium built black male wearing a black cloth covering his face, a red stocking cap, a black colored hooded jacket, white gloves, dark colored pants, black or grey shoes. The suspect displayed a black handgun
which he pointed at the employee.
 
Suspect #2 was a medium built black male wearing a Halloween style mask, dark colored sweatshirt with a long sleeve red shirt underneath, dark pants, black shoes, and white gloves. The suspect displayed a black handgun which
he pointed at the employee.
 
Suspect #3 was a thinner built black male wearing a black stocking cap, a red cloth covering his face, a blue jacket, a black hood, dark colored pants, black shoes, black gloves, and was carrying a red and black colored bag.

Shooting at Country Brook Apartments in Champaign
December 04, 2017

On November 25, 2017 at approximately 4:10 AM, Champaign Police Officers responded to the 2500 block of W. Springfield Ave., (Country Brook Apartments) after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police
found a 28-year-old male, later identified as Martrell Johnson, who had sustained a gunshot wound. Johnson was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Information has been developed,
which indicates the shooting occurred outside; however, it stemmed from an argument that took place inside a nearby apartment.


Armed Robberies of Delivery Drivers in Champaign
November 27, 2017

On November 19, 2017 at 9:05 p.m., a pizza delivery driver was approached in the 1500-block of Cobblestone Way, Champaign by two male suspects who stole the food order being delivered. The suspects were described as black males, both 6’ tall and 20-30 years old, with one suspect slightly heavier than the other. Both suspects were last seen wearing black ski masks, black jackets, black pants, and one suspect displayed a firearm.
 
On November 19, 2017 at 9:56 p.m., a sandwich delivery driver reported what was believed to be an attempted robbery in the 1700-block of Burnetta Street in Champaign. The two possible suspects were described as black males, both 6’ tall and 20-30 years old, with one suspect slightly heavier than the other.
Both suspects were wearing black ski masks and all dark clothing.
 
On November 20, 2017 at 7:54 p.m., a food delivery driver was approached in the 1700-block of Burnetta Street in Champaign by two male suspects who demanded money. The suspects were described as black males, 5’11, wearing black ski masks and all dark clothing. One suspect displayed what appeared to be a firearm.
 


Burglary/Credit Card Fraud in Champaign
November 20, 2017

On November 7, 2017 at approximately 10:05 a.m., a male suspect entered a private office at Christie Clinic and stole credit cards from a purse. The credit cards were later used at Walmart to make purchases over $500.
 
The suspect is described as a tall black male, 25-35 years of age, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a long sleeved gray shirt and jeans.

Attempted Arson in Champaign
November 13, 2017

During the hours of Monday, November 6, 2017 at 5:45 p.m. and Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 7:50 a.m., a window was broken to a business located in the 2100-block of S Neil Street. Found near the broken window, just inside the business, was what appeared to be an incendiary device. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit was dispatched to this location to investigate and remove the device.

Use of Cloned Credit Card at Champaign Target Store
November 06, 2017

On October 29, 2017 at approximately 5:05 p.m., a male suspect used a cloned credit card to make a purchase over $1000 at Target, located at 2102 N Prospect Avenue in Champaign.
 
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket with green camo-colored sleeves. The right sleeve of the jacket was embroidered with the letter ‘H’ and the front displayed the image of a shark. The suspect left the area in a dark colored SUV.

Several Burglaries from Motor Vehicles in Savoy
October 30, 2017

Between September 17, 2017 and October 10, 2017, five (5) Burglary from Motor Vehicles (BMVs) have taken place at Winfield Village apartments located in Savoy, Illinois. Items taken from the vehicles included currency and electronics.
 
The BMVs are believed to be taking place during the nighttime and early morning hours between 11:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The attached photo shows four (4) subjects seen on camera checking vehicle door handles and looking into vehicles on September 17, 2017 at 1:34 a.m.
 
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is also seeking information about three (3) BMVs that took place in Philo, Illinois between October 3, 2017 and October 21, 2017. Items taken from the vehicles include purses (and the contents) and currency.

Identity Theft and Opening Store Credit Accounts
October 23, 2017

During the weekend of July 29-30, an unidentified male entered the Champaign Target, Guitar Center, Best Buy and Menards stores and presented himself, as the victim - with the victim’s personal identification information, and successfully opened instant store credit accounts in the victim’s name. The suspect then made immediate purchases of merchandise worth over $3,000.00.
 
In particular, an Apple MacBook Pro 15.4” 512GB, Epson Fastfoto color printer, electronic DJ music equipment including: twin Yamaha 8” studio monitor speakers, Ableton PUSH 2 software controller, Ableton Live 9 software, AKG C214 condenser microphone, AKAI MPK249 Midi keyboard, and Yamaha MG10XU compact mixer. The suspect seemed knowledgeable about the DJ equipment and may have a connection to the music industry.
 
The victim had recently purchased a new car and believed his personal identity information was compromised during the finance application process.
 
The suspect was described as a large black male over 6’ tall and nearly 300 pounds. His head was bald with a full beard and mustache. On each occasion, the suspect wore the same blue dress shirt and khaki pants. I

Use of Cloned Credit Card
October 16, 2017

On September 25, 2017 fraudulent transactions were made with a cloned credit card at multiple locations throughout Champaign, Rantoul, and Tuscola totaling over $600.00. (Reference C17-08633)
 
On October 2, 2017, a cloned credit card from a separate victim involved fraudulent transactions made in Champaign which totaled over $700.00. The same suspects have been identified in both cases. (Reference

Suspect one is described as a black male, 20-30 years of age with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black Adidas zip-up jacket with black pants. Suspect two is described as a white or light-skinned black male, 20-30 years of age with a short beard. He was last seen wearing a black and gray jacket and black cap.

Armed Robbery of Mach One Convenience Store

On October 3, 2017 at approximately 12:20 a.m., a male suspect entered Mach One located at 902 Bloomington Road, Champaign. The male approached the counter with a large hunting knife in his hand and demanded
money from the cashier.
 
The suspect was described as a white male, 20-30 years of age, 5’8, 150 lbs. with dark black eyebrows. He was last seen wearing a bright pink hooded sweatshirt, white t-shirt, dark pants, and a white scarf covering his face.

Stolen Vehicle in Mahomet

Use of Stolen Debit Card
September 25, 2017

On August 2, 2017 at approximately 1:00 p.m., a victim left her debit card at a local service station. Several hours later, her card was used to make multiple purchases throughout Champaign, Urbana, and Savoy, which in total was over $600.
 
The suspect was seen on video picking up the missing debit card as he prepaid for his gas at the service station. The suspect is described as a black male driving a silver Chevy Suburban.

Burglary of It'll Do 2 Bar in Mahomet
September 18, 2017

STATUS: Open
On September 5, 2017 at approximately 4:30 a.m., a white female attempted to break into the back door of It’ll Do 2 bar, located at 215 S Lake of the Woods Road in Mahomet. The attempt was unsuccessful. At approximately 7:45 a.m. the female wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt broke into the business through a window. The female entered the business looking for items to steal and exited the bar. At approximately 9:00 a.m. the female again enters through the broken window, searches for items, and steals deposit bags containing cash along with some cigarettes. The female leaves through the broken window. The female suspect is believed to have walked through the wooded area behind the bar to gain entry to the premises.
 
The female is described as a white female, approximately 5’04” to 5’06”, 140-150 pounds, 20-30 years of age, wearing a dark maroon or burgundy colored hooded sweatshirt.

Armed Robbery of Burger King in Urbana
September 11, 2017

On Thursday, August 31st, at 5:19 AM, Urbana patrol officers were dispatched to the Burger King, 1708 Philo Road, for a robbery that had just occurred. Officers learned that the offender was armed with a gun and demanded the employee get money from the safe. The offender took an undisclosed amount of money and directed the employee to tie himself up with a cord. The offender then fled the area prior to police arrival. The offender is described as a young,white or Hispanic  male, 5’07”-5’09”, heavy build, wearing a dark blue and gray horizontally striped hooded sweatshirt, a black ski mask, dark pair of pants and carrying a brown bag.

Burglary of McCabe Brothers Tool Rental
September 05, 2017

Sometime between Saturday afternoon, July 22 and Monday morning, July 24, 2017, subjects forced entry into McCabe Bros. Tool Rental located at 411 North Wright Street in Champaign. The subjects stole over $25,000 worth of equipment utilizing a U-Haul box truck in the theft.

Armed Robbery of the Ribeye Restaurant
August 28, 2017

On August 18, 2017, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the Ribeye located at 1701 S Neil Street for a reported robbery. The victim was leaving the restaurant after closing when he was struck from behind and forced at gunpoint to reenter the building and open a safe. While inside, the suspects kicked in doors and threatened the victim with a knife. The suspects tied up the victim before leaving the building with an undisclosed amount of currency.
 
The suspects were described as two black males in their 20’s, around 5’10 with lean builds. Suspect one was last seen wearing a ski mask with white lettering and dark clothing. Suspect two was last seen wearing a black ski mask, dark shirt and blue jeans.


Forgery at Taco John's
August 21, 2017

On August 13, 2017 at approximately 6:13 p.m., a male subject entered Taco John’s restaurant located at 902 Meijer Drive in Champaign and placed an order. The subject paid for the order with a $100 bill, then left after receiving his change. The store later learned the subject had used a fraudulent $100 bill.
 
The suspect was described as a black male in his 30’s, 5’11, 185 lbs., with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt over a white t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

Shooting in Champaign (8/3/17)
August 14, 2017

On August 3, 2017 at approximately 8:10 PM, Champaign Police responded to the area of Elm Street and Beardsley Street, after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located the victim, Gus D. Edwards, age 53, suffering from a gunshot wound. Edwards was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Numerous Vehicle Burglaries between Kirby Ave. and Windsor Road in West Champaign
August 07, 2017

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s assistance in solving numerous vehicle burglaries that occurred on the west side of Champaign. These burglaries occurred overnight between July 18 and July 19, 2017 with the exception of one burglary which occurred on July 29, 2017. The majority of these burglaries occurred west of Interstate 57 between Kirby  Avenue and Windsor Road.
 
During the burglaries on July 19, the suspects rummaged through numerous vehicles and found the keys to a silver GMC SUV. The suspects stole the GMC, and it was later recovered in Chicago, Illinois. The suspects were captured on surveillance video at a business in Chicago. The suspects are two African American males possibly in their late teens to early 20s. A third suspect remained in the driver’s seat and was not captured on the surveillance video.
 
Two additional suspects were captured on surveillance video during a vehicle burglary on July 29, 2017. The suspects appeared to be Caucasian males in their teens. The suspects attempted to conceal their identity by covering their faces with shirts.
 
Also attached are pictures of two persons of interest. The two Caucasian males on bicycles were observed by a witness acting suspicious in the aforementioned area. The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying any of the subjects in the attached photographs.
