The Tallassee Police Department has officially notified CrimeStoppers that 18-year-old Tallassee resident Kristofer James Carey has been identified and taken into custody in reference to a Burglary investigation that occurred in the 700 Block of Central Boulevard.
Investigators advised that a CrimeStoppers tip led them to the identity of Kristofer James Carey as a suspect. Once in custody, Carey confessed to the crime and was officially charged with Burglary and Theft of Property.
A cash reward is being offered to the tipster for information given. Tipster is being asked to respond to the P3 Tips app or call 215-STOP to claim reward.

The Tallassee Police Department is currently investigating a Burglary investigation that occurred in the 700 Block of Central Boulevard.
The Tallassee Police Department were called to Road Runner Gas Station on August 27, 2020. Investigators advise that the offender used force to gain unlawful entry into the front glass door and stole unspecified merchandise and property. The offender is described as wearing what appears to be an orange hooded sweatshirt, woodland camo pants, a black backpack, and possibly camo colored Croc shoes. The most notable item is a dark-colored hat (dark Blue or Black) with a white Nike check and a brass fishhook on the right side of the bill.
Tallassee Investigators are hoping that someone will be able to identify this offender through the released photos.

On Sunday, August 2, 2020, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Montgomery Police Patrol units responded to the 300 Block of East Ogden Avenue regarding a subject suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Kennedy Rogers Sr. and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The Montgomery Police Department is seeking assistance from the public into the Murder Investigation of Kennedy Rogers Sr.

The Wetumpka Police Department released photos of unknown males wanted in reference to an Auto Theft investigation.
On August 7, 2020 at 2:40pm a 2010 White Explorer Sport Trac was stolen from a retail store parking lot in the 4500 Block of US Highway 231.
Investigators described the auto theft suspect as a tall black male, wearing a red head covering, black shirt, blue jean shorts, red shoes and white mask. He was observed getting into the vehicle and driving away with it.
The second suspect wearing a neon yellow #31 sleeveless shirt, black shorts, black shoes and red mask was with the suspect but did not participate in the theft. This suspect is wanted for questioning only in regard to his relationship to the suspect who stole the 2010 White Explorer Sport Trac.
Investigators are hoping that someone will be able to identify these suspects through the released photos and video.

The Millbrook Police Department released photos of unknown males wanted in reference to a Theft By Deception investigation.
On June 24, 2020, three unknown males entered Wal-Mart in Millbrook and scammed the cashier out of several thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise. They were possibly driving a new model (2019-2020) Toyota Camry, Silver in color.
Investigators are hoping that someone will be able to identify the scam artists through the released photos.

Quick Change Artist (National Association of Bunco Investigators NABI)
A Bunco crime; a Quick-Change Artist, or sometimes, a Short Change Artist, is someone who steals money by confusing cashiers while they are making change. They do this in many ways. Usually the thief attempts to distract or confuse the cashier during the transaction, does a quick sleight of hand, and then claims they were not given the correct amount. They're called "artists" because they are extraordinarily good at what they do.
Common Targets
Quick-change con artists target new or inexperienced salespeople who are trying to deliver fast customer service. They also target young employees who may not be as aggressive in managing the confusion of multiple transactions and are wary of slowing down a line of customers. The types of establishments typically victimized by fast-cash scams can include fast-food joints, gas stations, hotels and even ice cream stores.
Recognizing the Con Job
Employers can train salespeople about how to spot a quick-change scam. For example, employees should be wary of customers trying to purchase a low-cost item with a large bill. Employees should request that the customer use a smaller bill for the transaction. If the customer doesn't have smaller bill, employees can direct them to the nearest bank to break the large bill into smaller denominations. Small businesses can post signs which explicitly state that they only do transactions with bills no larger than $20. Employees should be warned of customers requesting multiple transactions and of duos that may be working together to distract them.
Stopping the Scam
Police advise that cashiers should place large bills on top of the cash register, the till or on the counter in full view. Cashiers shouldn't put a large bill in the cash register until they've completed one transaction. Also, the cashier should count aloud the change that has been made. If the customer starts to barrage them with requests for multiple transactions, they should purposefully slow the transaction process down and manage each transaction separately. If the customer begins to bully or intimidate the cashier and the confusion escalates, the cashier should stop the transaction completely, close the register and call for the manager.

On July 18, 2020 at around 9:15 am, an unknown male entered a cell phone retail store. The male stole an Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max smartphone. The male wanted for Theft of Property 3rd degree is described as a white male wearing a red shirt, grey shorts, black shoes, and wearing a white face mask.
