The Covington County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a residential burglary/theft that occurred between the dates of March 30, 2020 – April 3, 2020 on Christi Smith Road in Andalusia, AL. The suspect(s) entered a residence and stole numerous firearms along with other items.

 

According to Investigators, the following firearms were taken during the burglary:

 

  • American Arms .22 magnum revolver
  • Mossberg .410 pump shotgun
  • Remington 1100 shotgun
  • Remington 30.06 model 742
  • Smith & Wesson .357 revolver, stainless steel, 4 inch barrel with rubber grip
  • Sid .22 auto
  • Charter Arms .22 magnum

The Prattville Police Department is currently investigating the Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle that occurred on June 5, 2020.

 

According to Investigators, the pictured suspect made unforced entry into the victim’s unsecured vehicle and appeared to be looking around the vehicle in efforts to commit a theft. After a short time, the unknown suspect exited the vehicle with no property belonging to the victim and fled the area on foot.

The Wetumpka Police Department has officially notified CrimeStoppers that Dewayne Allen Barnes is in police custody.  Barnes is no longer wanted by law enforcement.

 

Investigators advise that Dewayne Allen Barnes was taken into custody on Thursday, July 9, 2020 in Millbrook, Alabama by the Millbrook Police Department.  Barnes had previously been identified by CrimeStoppers as a suspect wanted for unlawfully entering a vehicle and stealing several items including a firearm and credit cards in Wetumpka, Alabama. Barnes reportedly used the credit card at several businesses in Wetumpka, Central, Kellyton, and Alexander City.

 

Dewayne Allen Barnes was officially charged with Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle and multiple counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.  A hold has been placed on Barnes by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for similar offenses. No other details were released.

The Wetumpka Police Department has officially notified CrimeStoppers that a person has been identified in an ongoing Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle investigation that occurred on May 8, 2020. The suspect is still at large.

 

According to Investigators, the pictured suspect was identified as Dewayne Allen Barnes.  Barnes is described as a white male, 5’11” ft.in height, weighing approximately 220lbs (D.O.B. 09/29/1984).

 

Dewayne Allen Barnes was identified shortly after CrimeStoppers released a photo of an unidentified suspect wanted for unlawfully entering a vehicle and stealing several items including a firearm and credit cards in Wetumpka, Alabama. Barnes reportedly used the credit card at several businesses in Wetumpka, Central, Kellyton, and Alexander City.

 

The vehicle he was last seen driving, a white older model Cadillac SUV with a sunroof, was impounded after law enforcement found it abandoned by Barnes.
