On September 5, 2023, at approximately 3:32 AM an institutional bed roster was conducted of the facility. At approximately 4:20 AM the count did not clear. It was determined that inmate Pershon Pettway was not present and was unaccounted for.

The United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force requested public assistance on August 15, 2023, and were actively searching for the location of Irvin Garcia Messino, 34, wanted for murder.

Investigators say Messino was wanted for the murder of Dario Juarez, 45, that occurred on August 19, 2023, on Locust Street in Montgomery, Alabama.

Investigators say Messino has been located and is no longer wanted by law enforcement. Messino was taken into custody Friday, March 1, 2024. There are no other details available for release at this time.

The Alabama Department of Corrections notified Central Alabama CrimeStoppers and advised they are seeking a fugitive wanted for escape.

The Alabama Department of Corrections is requesting public assistance in locating, fugitive, Jordan Andrew Thomas, 30, who is described as a black male, 5’8” in height, and weighs approximately 120 lbs.

On Monday, August 7, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Staton Correctional Facility located in Elmore County advised inmate, Jordan Andrew Thomas had escaped from the facility.

Investigators say Thomas was last seen wearing his brown khaki state uniform. There are no other details available for release at this time.

Thomas is currently serving a 75-year sentence for murder.

CrimeStoppers released the lookout for Barnett on August 3, 2023, on behalf of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Barnett was originally wanted for multiple outstanding felony drug charges and a gun charge. Court documents indicated that Barnett was unlawfully in possession of a firearm after being convicted of felony and criminal charges that would prevent him from possessing a firearm.

CrimeStoppers was notified on September 19, 2023, that Barnett had been arrested and was no longer wanted. Barnett was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility

The Montgomery Police Department notified CrimeStoppers and advised they have located registered sex offender, Riley James Decatur, 54, wanted for Violation of the Community Notification Act.

Investigators requested public assistance locating Decatur on July 20, 2023. Decatur was wanted for Violation of the Community Notification Act by the Montgomery Police Department. Investigators say Decatur is a registered sex offender and official court documents indicate he has been convicted of three sexual-related offenses.

The United States Marshals assisted with the apprehension of Decatur. Investigators credit an anonymous tip received through CrimeStoppers that led to the exact whereabouts of Decatur. Investigators say the tipster’s information was crucial in the investigation and ultimately led to the apprehension of Decatur.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Montgomery Patrol Units and medics responded to the 1700 block of Upper Wetumpka Road in reference to a subject shot. Upon arrival, the victim, black male, Carlos Jones, 39 YOA, of Montgomery was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
