050/19 News Release: Witnesses to Assault Wanted
August 09, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department would like to ask the public for their assistance in locating witnesses to an Assault in the First Degree that happened in the Keeaumoku area.

 

On Sunday, July 28, 2019, approximately 4:00 a.m., the victim exited the Seoul Karaoke, located at 815 Keeaumoku Street, when he was assaulted with a baseball bat by an unknown suspect.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was diagnosed with serious bodily injuries.

049/19 News Release: Person of Interest for Arson Cases
August 07, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest that was seen on surveillance video at the scene of three Arson cases which occurred in the Waikiki area. 

On August 4, 2019, at approximately 10:05 p.m., security for the Alohilani Hotel responded to fire alarms on separate floors of the hotel. Both fires were found to be intentionally set and caused damages to the hotel premises.

On August 5, 2019, at approximately 7:45 p.m., an unknown suspect used an accelerant to ignite a fire causing property damages in the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. While the guests were evacuated from the hotel, two rooms had been burglarized.  A male was seen on video surveillance carrying at least two backpacks that appear similar to the ones taken in the burglary. 

On August 6, 2019, at approximately 8:38 p.m., a fire occurred at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Grand Waikikian Tower. It was determined that the fire had been intentionally set. 

The person depicted in the photos was seen on video surveillance at three of the arson cases.  He is a person of interest at this time.

047/19 UPDATE News Release Manslaughter Suspect Wanted
August 05, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a male wanted for Manslaughter which occurred in the Kalihi area.
 
On Sunday, July 21, 2019 at about 5:42 a.m., the victim was walking on Kam IV Road, when a male on a bicycle approached her and grabbed her bag causing her to fall down and hit her head. The suspect then fled the scene with the victim’s bag. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries. On July 26, 2019, the victim’s condition deteriorated and pronouncement of her death was made.

045/19 New Release - Witnesses to Animal Cruelty Wanted
July 12, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to a Cruelty to Animals in the First Degree case that happened at the Lualualei Beach Park in Waianae.

On Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a local animal rescue group, received an anonymous call of a male burying a puppy in the sand. A representative responded to the scene and was able to locate and recover the puppy. The witness was able to obtain a partial description of the male suspect.

Suspect: Unknown male     

Race:    Hawaiian/Filipino mix

Height:   5’9”

Weight: 170 lbs.

Clothing: Dark, weathered clothing, hat and sunglasses.

038/19 News Release - Alarm Scam 038/19
May 31, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department would like to inform the public about a residential alarm scam that is occurring.

 

There have been reports of a male knocking on people’s doors in the Hawaii Kai area and identifying himself as an employee of an alarm company. The male states that he observed an alarm sign posted in front and asks if the resident would like for him to inspect the system to make sure that it is working okay. Follow up checks to the alarm company have confirmed that they do not send out employees to conduct these types of checks. Please do not accept these type of solicitations and do not allow strangers to enter your home.



037/19 News Release - Witnesses to Arson Wanted 037/19
May 30, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses to an Arson that occurred at the Waimanalo Bay Beach Park, located at 41-1113 Kalanianaole Highway.

 

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at approximately 10:35 p.m, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a fire call involving two construction vehicles that had been parked at a construction site within the Waimanalo Bay Beach Park. Fire Investigators later determined that the fire had been intentionally set. The case has been classified as an Arson in the First Degree.

034/19 News Release - Negligent Injury Suspect Wanted
May 22, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

 

On Monday, May 20, 2019, at approximately 1:14 p.m., the driver of a moped was travelling North on Sand Island Access Road when he lost control and fell onto the roadway after being struck by another vehicle. The driver of the moped sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The driver that caused the collision fled the scene.



033/19 News Release - Witness to Murder Wanted
May 20, 2019

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses in the murder of Benjamin Awong.

 

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m, HPD officers responded to the area of Old Kalanianaole Highway on reports of a deceased male being discovered. Upon their arrival, they located a lifeless male laying in the brush. The male has been identified as Benjamin Awong and his death has been ruled a homicide.

028/19 News Release - Failure to Render Aid - 028/19
May 15, 2019

CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are still seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian in front of the Waikiki Aquarium on Thursday, May 2, 2019, around 10:30 p.m.  The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Kalakaua Avenue when it hit the pedestrian and left the scene of the collision. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.

 

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored 2002 to 2005 Saturn Vue with faded grey plastic bumper trims. There may be possible damages to the left front bumper area.  Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers at 955-8300 or the HPD Vehicular Homicide Section 723-3413.

 

Note:  An earlier news release described the suspect vehicle as a white Tacoma truck.  Investigators have since determined that the truck was in the area at the time but not involved in the collision.

 

Suspect Vehicle:     

2002-2005 Saturn Vue, dark in color with faded grey plastic bumper trims.
