How It Works

Crime Stoppers makes it easy and safe to report a crime tip in Omaha. There are 3 ways to submit a tip:

MOBILE APP: P3 TIPS

IF YOU ARE WITNESSING A CRIME IN PROGRESS, PLEASE DIAL 911 TO REPORT A CRIME.

Whether you leave a call or online tip, all tipsters will remain anonymous—and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest.

Once you leave your tip, you will receive a tip ID number. Don't lose this. Your tip number is the only way you can get paid.

If your tip leads to an arrest, the amount you receive will vary depending on the severity of the crime and the approval of the Omaha Crime Stoppers board of directors.

Omaha Crime Stoppers will pay between $50 and $1,000 for standard rewards, and between $1,000 and $25,000 cash for our Enhanced Reward Program.

You can check the status of your tip online or thru the mobile app. If your tip is rewarded, tipsters will be given a code and a bank location to pick up your cash. That way, you still remain unknown to us and anyone you leave a tip on.

All tipsters will remain anonymous—meaning we don’t know your identity. We won’t know your name, your number or anything about you. We run encryption on our tip software so you cannot be traced—not even by the police.

Please be as descriptive as you can when providing information to the operator. If you have the Omaha Police Report Number, that is helpful too in quickly routing your information to the correct investigator.

Calls to Omaha Crime Stoppers are received and then routed to a call center in Canada. The call source is encrypted, so your phone number is not received or documented—so you don’t need to worry about calling from a different phone number.

Calls are not recorded, and bi-lingual operators are available 24/7. While you may experience a slight hold during busier times, you will speak to a live operator to provide your information and they will NOT ask for your name.

The live operator will document the information you provide within our tip information program, and provide you with a tip number.

DO NOT LOSE YOUR TIP NUMBER. Your tip number is the only way you can get paid if your tip leads to an arrest.

Please be as descriptive as you can when providing information to the operator. If you have the Omaha Police RB#, that is helpful too in quickly routing your information to the correct investigator.

Upon completion of your call, the operator will submit the information to the Crime Stoppers Coordinator through the Crime Stoppers system. If you see or hear on the news of an arrest in the case, you may call back to the call center to see if your tip was the one that led to an arrest.

Please be patient, as it can take several weeks between the arrest and the Crime Stoppers award being generated. If you are awarded a cash reward, you will be given instructions on where to pick up the reward. Even then, you will not have to give your name, as your tip number is used to claim the reward.

Online (p3tips.com)

Tipsters can also submit a tip online at P3tips.com. The process is completely secure and anonymous, and is a very effective and efficient means of safely communicating with Omaha Crime Stoppers. Our Online Tip process is powered by a leading online tip solution provider, and all of the web tip information is routed through Canada and then back down to us. The tip is stripped of IP information so there is no tracking or identifying information attached to the tip.

The integrated two-way dialog capabilities allow the tipster to come back and provide additional information to their tip at any time. This also provides a secure means for the Crime Stoppers coordinator to ask questions or provide reward information back to the tipster through the same secure and encrypted interface.

You will not be asked for your name, and the website does not identify your information at all. If you are awarded a cash reward, you will be provided instructions on how to use your tip number to claim your reward at a local bank. Even then, you will not have to give your name, as your tip number is used to claim the reward.

Mobile App (P3 Tips)

This is the best and most efficient way to submit a tip and potentially qualify for a cash reward: download the P3 Tips app on your devices.

The P3 Tips app allows you to submit anonymous tips with your smartphone. Additionally, you can attach images and videos to your tips. It adds additional security by securing all information with a user ID and password. There is no cost to use this application and it is free to download for both Apple and Android devices.

Once you select Omaha in the P3 Tips app, it will then default to Omaha Crime Stoppers when you access the app. Within the app, you may:

Submit tip information
Receive updates on your tip
Receive follow-up requests for information on a tip you submitted

This encrypted, secure, two-way communication is very helpful in making your tip the best it can be, and increasing the possibility that the tip leads to an arrest and you can get paid.
