On February 4th, 2012 at about 8 p.m., a resident in the 8500 block of Marilyn Ave. called JPD to report she just arrived home and when she walked into her house she startled a burglar. The suspect realized the resident was home and ran through the house and out a door, fleeing the area on foot.
The home owner immediately called 911 and officers responded. The suspect attempted to take various jewelry and electronics. The suspect was described as male, about 5’ 10" tall with a light colored top. He was not located in the area.
On December 30, 2011 at about 5:47 P.M., Juneau Police Dept. officers
responded to A & P Market on Willoughby Ave for a reported theft. A store employee reported a male took a case of Red Bull energy drink, put it over his shoulder and walked out of the store without paying for it. The employee chased the subject to the area of Whittier St. but was unable to stop him.The suspect is described as a white male, about 6’2”-6’3”, 180 pounds, 18-21
years of age, short black hair with a black hoody.JPD received a report from a resident near the 6000 block of Montgomery Street on Dec. 28 saying all four tires on her vehicle were slashed while it was parked overnight. Total damage is estimated at $900.
JPD has received multiple reports of tire slashings in the Juneau area in recent weeks.
On December 27
th, 2011, JPD received a report of vandalism at Rotary Park on Riverside Dr. Further investigation revealed unknown subject(s) had spray painted Swastika’s on a bench and garbage can in the park causing about $50 damage.On 12-19-2011, a citizen called JPD to report damage to her vehicle which was parked along Douglas Hwy near John St overnight. When she went to her unlocked vehicle in the morning she realized it had been entered and the glove box opened. Additionally, the front seat was intentionally burned, however, the fire did not spread to the rest of the car.
On November 1st, 2011, a citizen reported to the Juneau Police Dept. that a door had been ripped off of the building in the 400 block of S. Franklin. The door had been used to secure an electrical meter box on the side of a building. The door was wooden and the hinges had been ripped off.
On 12-9-11 at about 0500 hours, JPD responded to GW Teals on Mendenhall Mall Road for a report of a broken window. An investigation revealed the business had been burglarized sometime during the early morning hours and an undisclosed amount of cash had been taken.
Since the end of November, 2011, the Juneau Police Dept. has received various reports of fuel thefts from vehicles and homes. On November 29
th, a resident reported the fuel from the tank of his truck was removed during the night while parked in the 3600 block of Amalga St.On December 4
th JPD received a report that an unknown person stole a total of four, 5 gallon gas cans from his residence in the 9800 block of Nine Mile Creek Rd in North Douglas. Two of the cans were full of gasoline. Additionally, the suspect siphoned about 25 gallons of home heating fuel from his home fuel tank.On December 5
th, 2011, JPD received a report from a citizen in the 6200 block of Glacier Hwy that fuel had been siphoned from 3 vehicles over night that were parked in a parking lot.Total value of the fuel is about $275 in all cases.
On 10-03-11, JPD received a report of an I Phone that was stolen from a locker at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center. The phone was stolen between about 4:00 and 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. The phone was white in color.
On October 3
rd, at about 9 a.m., staff for the Kennedy-Adair Memorial Park called JPD to report vandalism to the restrooms and a park bench. Unknown subjects had torn light fixtures out, knocked stall doors off their hinges and dismantled a park bench nearby. Total damage is estimated at about $500.On August 4, 2011, JPD investigated a burglary at Auke Bay Bible Church
near 12 mile Glacier Hwy. Unknown suspect(s) made entry into the church and
forcibly opened a safe containing an undetermined amount of cash. The cash
was stolen.
The burglary was committed during the night and discovered in the morning
hours of August 4th.
