Burglary at Stephen Richards Dr.

On June 27, 2011 the Juneau Police Dept. received a report from a resident at a trailer at 9950 Stephen Richards Dr that his locked trailer had been forcibly entered while he was away for several weeks and someone was living in the residence. The suspect had stolen various items including aluminum four wheeler ramps, the furnace, lawn mower, microwave, light fixtures and various kitchen items from the home. A suspect had been seen in the home and was described as a native male about 30 years old and 5’9” tall.
Graffiti on S. Franklin St.
July 29, 2011
On June 24th, 2011, the Juneau Police Dept received four reports of graffiti on
various businesses in the 400 block of S. Franklin St. A business occupant had
heard a suspicious noise outside the building at about 1:00 a.m. that morning
and provided a description of two suspects.
One subject was described as having a medium green hooded coat with stripes.
He also was carrying a light blue backpack and wearing a dark stocking cap.
The second subject was wearing a black/white horizontal large striped hoody.
Car Riflings

During the month of June, the Juneau Police Dept. has received at least 40
reports of vehicles that were illegally entered and property taken from them.
The car rifling’s occurred borough wide. Most cars were entered during late
evening/early morning hours and were unlocked.
Theft on S. Franklin Street
July 15, 2011
On June 16, 2011 at about 5:20 p.m., the Juneau Police Dept investigated a
theft of a Blackberry cell phone in the area of the 100 block of S. Franklin St.
The victim said he and a friend were standing on the sidewalk when a male
unknown to them asked to use his Blackberry cell phone. When he allowed the
person to use it, the person left the area on foot and was unable to be located.
The suspect was described as a white male, about 18 years old, 5’6” wearing a
black coat and had an Alaskan backpack.
Assault at Harris Harbor
July 08, 2011
On April 4th 2011 the Juneau Police Department investigated an assault in the area of Harris Harbor. A 46 year old local male said he was walking toward the pedestrian bridge by the Marine Tech center at approximately 1:15 pm, when he walked passed two intoxicated Native males 20-30 years of age, who asked him for money. He said he told the men he didn’t have any money and he kept walking, when he was suddenly hit with something on the head. He said the males ran off after they hit him. He described one man as being clean shaven and wearing a dark parka, and the other as having facial hair and wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
Theft from Juneau Family Birth Center
July 01, 2011
On May 12th 2011, the Juneau Police Department received a report from the
Juneau Family Birth Center that two hand held doppler instruments had been
stolen from the center. The brand of the instruments is Huntley Healthcare
and the Model is Fetal Doplex FD1. Each unit is valued at $700.00.
Also taken was a Dyson DC24 Vacuum also valued at $700.00.
Vandalism, Fire at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park
June 24, 2011
On 5-28-11, at about 1:30am, while on a routine foot patrol, Officers of the
Juneau Police Department discovered a fire burning on Rielly Ritchie Field at
Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park. Officers were able to extinguish the fire but
several areas of the field were damaged. It is believed the fire was intentionally
set. Damage is estimated between 15 & 20 thousand dollars.
Vandalism, Broken Windows with BB Gun

Over the past few days the Juneau Police Department has had approximately
20 different reports of windows being broken out using BBs presumably from a
BB type gun resulting in thousands of dollars in damage. Reports are from
vehicle owners, home owners, businesses and a school.
Burglary on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive
June 10, 2011
On May 29th 2011, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a
burglary in the 9900 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive. The caller
said sometime between May 27th and May 29th, someone entered his residence
and stole (2) Makita Drills valued at $150.00, (1) DeWalt Sawzall valued at
$300.00, and (1) Rock River AR-15 rifle. The AR-15 has a collapsible stock and
an ACOG scope on it and is valued at $2500.00.
Burglary & Jewelry Theft on Columbia Blvd.
May 27, 2011
On March 2nd, 2011, a 55 year old woman reported to the Juneau Police
Department the theft of about $6,500 worth of Jewelry from her home at
the 4400 Block of Columbia Blvd. The theft was discovered that day but
could have occurred within the previous two months. Missing are a set of
pearls, a wedding band, a diamond, a gold bracelet, gold earring, and a
gold ring.
Assault on Distin Street
May 20, 2011
On May 3rd, 2011 at approximately 1:00am, the Juneau Police Department
received a report of a Robbery the caller said had just occurred on Distin St.
downtown.
The caller said there were four subjects involved, 3 males & 1 female, all
wearing hooded sweatshirts. The caller said the suspects had all run away
from the area.
Officers responded and located a 61 year old local male inside his apartment in
the 300 Block of Distin St. The male said he was sleeping in his apartment
and he awoke to someone punching him. He said he had no enemies, no valuables,
and had no idea who had assaulted him.
Assault on Nancy Street
May 13, 2011
On May 3rd, 2011 at approximately 1:00am, the Juneau Police Department
received a report of an assault the caller said had taken place earlier that
evening.
Officer’s met with a local 27 year old female who said she was walking home
alone on Loop Road near Nancy Street at approximately 10pm, when she was
pulled in to the back of a smaller sized, dark colored, 4 door vehicle and
assaulted. She said that approximately 15 minutes later, she was dropped off
on Stephen Richards Blvd and she walked home. She said she thought there
were three males in the car.
SOLVED! - Burglary at the Chapel by the Lake
March 25, 2011
On February 14, 2011 the Juneau Police Department investigated a burglary at
the Chapel by the Lake. The investigation revealed someone entered the
building sometime during the night. Once inside the building, they forced open
numerous interior doors causing thousands of dollars in damage. A small
amount of cash was taken from an unlocked safe.
SOLVED! - Theft of Hard Drive from Alaska Department of Education
March 18, 2011
On February 10, 2011 the Juneau Police Department investigated the theft of
an external hard drive from the Alaska Department of Education. The hard
drive had last been seen on February 2, 2011 and reported missing within the
department on February 8, 2011.
The drive is said to contain confidential data on about 90,000 students in the
State of Alaska school system. The data is in a format that unless some has a
special program, they will not be able to view it.
Homicide
March 11, 2011
Approximately 11 years ago on 05/22/2000, the Juneau Police Department
received a report that 36 year old Juneau resident Daniel Brux was found
deceased in his apartment. The apartment was located in the 100 block of
Franklin Street. The investigation revealed that Brux was the victim of a
homicide.
While numerous people were contacted during the course of this
investigation, it remains unsolved.

Attempted Murder: Glacier Highway Shooting
March 04, 2011
On September 16, 2003 the Juneau Police Department (JPD) received a call
reporting a shooting in the 9300 block of Glacier Hwy.
The 21 year old caller first said that someone had shot at him and missed by
inches, but that the bullet struck his car. While on the phone with JPD dispatch,
the caller updated and said he had just now been shot in the arm. The caller was
instructed to take cover which he did by going into a nearby store.
Officers responded and did not locate the shooter in the area. The victim was
transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital where he was treated and released for a
wound to his arm.
While numerous people were contacted during the course of this investigation it
remains unsolved.
Attempted Murder: Nugget Shooting
February 25, 2011
On November 8th, 2001 the Juneau Police Department investigated the shooting of a 44 year female in the parking lot of the Nugget Mall.
The victim was found by a Good Samaritan lying on the ground next to her car in the parking lot. It was originally thought that perhaps she had fallen on the ice and hit her head, as there was a large amount of blood on the ground. The victim was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital where it was discovered that she in fact had a bullet lodged in her head that was the cause for the bleeding. The police where called at this point in time.
The shooting is believed to have taken place sometime between 3:15 and 3:30 pm
early that day.
The victim was medevaced to Seattle and ultimately recovered from her injuries.
While numerous people were contacted during the course of this investigation, it
remains unsolved.
Golden North Tours Fuel Theft
February 18, 2011
On January 28th, 2011 the Juneau Police Department received a call from the
owner of Golden North Tours, a local Juneau business. The owner reported that
between November 21, 2010 and January 23, 2011, an unknown person or persons, used a company gas card to purchase over $18,000.00 worth of fuel.
All of the purchases were made at the same, automated Mount Roberts Road fuel
pump location, and all of the purchases were for # 1 Diesel.
The purchases sometimes exceeded 200 gallons per visit and there were times
when multiple visits were made to the pump in one night.

January 28, 2011
On January 1, 2011 the Juneau Police Department investigated the theft of a firearm from a vehicle in the 10000 Block of Silver St. The caller said the gun was taken sometime between midnight and 9:30am on January 1
st. The firearm was reported as a Colt .45 Caliber Semi Auto Combat Elite handgun valued at $600.00. The serial number of the handgun is CG04416E.
