Murder of Gerald Hadley
August 23, 2002

On August 23 2002 at about 5:10 am, Victoria Police Department officers responded to Circle K, at the 4400 block of N Navarro, concerning a man down by the dumpster behind the location.   The man was identified as 63 year old Gerald Samuel Hadley.  Hadley was a white male who was homeless and had been severely beaten. 

Hadley was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On July 14, 2003, after nearly a year in a coma, Hadley died as a result of the injuries he received during the aggravated assault.  The charge at that time was upgraded to murder. 

Murder of Raul Moroy
October 09, 1997

On October 9th 1997, the body of 25 year old Raul Monroy was discovered at the 2000 block of E San Antonio. Monroy was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police later discovered Monroy’s 1977 Chevy pickup at a local bar.

Murder of Eloise Watson
June 23, 1976

On June 23, 1976, the body of Eloise Watson was discovered in an apartment on the 200 Block of E Commercial St.  Watson, an 84 year old white female, had last been seen alive approximately 4 days prior by tenants of the apartment building.  An autopsy confirmed Watson had been murdered.

Murder of Sam Towell
January 08, 1973

On January 8, 1973, at approximately 7:05 pm, an unknown assailant attempted to rob Sam Towell at his business on the 100 Block of E Water St.  Towell died later that evening at Detar Hospital, succumbing to injuries sustained during the robbery.

Murder of Lynn Holeman Dean
October 21, 1970

On October 21, 1970, at approximately 1:00 pm, Lynn Holeman Dean was found dead at a liquor store on the 2300 Block of Port Lavaca Dr.  Officers with the Victoria Police Department discovered her body while investigating a robbery of the store.  Dean was a 24 year old white female who worked at the store.
