Criminal Damage to Property in Mahomet - Posted 8/17/26

Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance regarding a criminal damage to property investigation.
Sometime between the hours of 7 pm on August 2 and 5 am on August 3, 2026, an unknown person damaged a vehicle parked at the Lake of the Woods apartments, located at 307 N Prairieview Rd. in Mahomet. The vehicle, a gray Jeep, had all four tires intentionally punctured.
Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during this time. Police are also asking residents who live in or near the Lake of the Woods apartments to review any doorbell, security, or other surveillance video that may have captured suspicious persons or vehicles during the overnight hours.
Residential Burglary and Criminal Damage to property -08/10/2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a residential burglary and criminal damage to property. On July 24th, 2026 around 8:40 p.m., an unknown male subject entered a residential building located in the 200 block of East Armory Avenue in Champaign. The male damaged electronic equipment and wiring inside the building, valued at over $2000. The male fled on foot when confronted by a resident.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on surveillance video. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 18-25 years old, wearing black shorts and a distinctive black backpack.

Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
On June 12, 2026, at 11:45 a.m., an unknown male entered Home Depot in Champaign and selected plumbing products and numerous smoke and carbon monoxide detectors valued at more than $4,500. He then paid for the merchandise with counterfeit $100 bills.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a heavy-set black male, approximately 50 years of age. He was wearing a gray/yellow ballcap with an American flag patch, a gray Miller Pipeline work shirt, dark gray work pants, and tan boots. He left in a white full-size SUV.

Shooting Investigation in Champaign - Posted 7/13/26

On June 29, 2026, at approximately 2:09 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the 1100-block of North Fourth Street in Champaign following reports of subjects exchanging gunfire. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and quickly located evidence of a shooting. No victims were reported but one home was struck by gunfire during the incident.
Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.

Multiple Retail Thefts in Urbana - Posted 6/15/26

On May 28, 2026, a male suspect entered Schnucks located at 200 North Vine Street in Urbana. The male selected and concealed approximately $160 worth of meat products and fled without offering payment. He left on foot toward the 400 block of Urbana Avenue.
The suspect is described as a white male with dark facial hair. During this incident, he was wearing a black sweatshirt, camouflage cargo shorts, and distinctive black-and-gold Nike shoes.
Investigators believe this same individual may also be responsible for a series of sports trading card thefts from Walmart at 505 South Dunlap Avenue in Savoy. In these incidents, the suspect selected numerous packs of trading cards and left the store without paying for the merchandise.
On May 25, 2026, the suspect wore a black tank top, khaki cargo shorts, and the same distinctive black-and- gold Nike shoes. Video revealed tattoos on his arms and upper right back/shoulder area. He fled this incident with approximately $500 worth of trading cards.
On May 28, 2026, the suspect was observed wearing a black hat, black flannel shirt, a black t-shirt with red and white lettering, and what appeared to be the same camouflage cargo shorts. On this occasion, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of trading cards.

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
On April 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., two females entered Old Navy located at 2000 N Neil St. in Champaign. The women grabbed a mesh bag, selected numerous items, and concealed them in the bag and inside a purse. They then placed the mesh bag full of unpaid merchandise near the front exit and walked out. Shortly afterwards, the females pulled up near the exit in a Kia SUV and one female went inside and grabbed the stashed bag. The suspects then fled with the stolen merchandise valued at more than $800.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as black females, approximately 25-35 years old. Suspect one was described as wearing a black shirt, white pants, and white Crocs. Suspect two was wearing glasses, an all-gray outfit, and green Crocs. Both females were carrying black purses.

On March 20, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a male suspect entered Best Buy located at 2117 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The suspect applied for various forms of credit accounts using the victim’s stolen identity. He then used the various credit accounts and purchased numerous cell phones and other electronic devices. The victim later received the credit card bill which totaled several thousand dollars.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a heavy-set black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. The suspect left on foot

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
On April 11, at 3:57 p.m., a retail theft occurred at Old Navy, located at 2000 N. Neil St. in Champaign. A female entered the store with an empty bag. She accessed a theft detection device and used it to remove multiple anti-theft devices from clothing prior to concealing the items in the bag. The female left without attempting to pay for the items. Five minutes later, the female reentered the store with an empty bag and again accessed the theft detection device. She selected more clothing and repeated the process before walking out without stopping to make payment. The stolen merchandise was valued at just under $600.
The suspect was described as a black female wearing a light blue jacket with white lettering, black leggings, and black shoes.

April 20, 2026
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., two females entered Old Navy located at 2000 North Neil Street in Champaign. The females walked throughout the store together while suspect one selected a bag and concealed numerous items. When leaving the store, suspect one grabbed two sweatshirts and wrapped them around the concealed clothing. As the females passed through the anti-theft machines the clothing tags triggered the alarms both audibly and visually and the suspects continued walking making no attempt to stop and make payment. The females left with over $500 in stolen merchandise.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as black females, approximately 25-30 years old. Suspect one was described as having a medium build and wearing a pink sweatsuit. Suspect two was wearing all black clothing. The suspects fled in a red 4-door sedan

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
On December 3, 2025, at 3:44 p.m., two females entered TJ Maxx located at 21 E Marketview Dr. in Champaign. The females first grabbed bags and then selected numerous two-piece clothing sets, removed the alarm devices from the clothing, and concealed the items in the bags. They proceeded to the exit and made no attempt to stop and make payment. Employees were able to retrieve $800 worth of clothing the suspects dropped on the way out and the suspects fled with an additional $1,000 in stolen merchandise.
The suspects were described as black females, 20-30 years old. Suspect one was described as having black hair in a ponytail and was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hoodie, gray sweatpants, and gray shoes. Suspect two was described as having black and brown hair and wearing a rose gold jacket, pink pants, and pink/white shoes.


Robbery in Urbana - Posted 3/23/2026

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 9:25 PM, officers responded to a reported robbery at Lindy Lu’s, 202West University Avenue in Urbana. Upon arrival, officers learned that two suspects, believed to be one maleand one female, entered the gaming establishment together. The suspects approached a customer, struck him in the back of the neck, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash along with a cell phone. The suspects then fled on foot, traveling north on Race Street and east on Park Street. No weapons were observed during the incident, and responding officers were unable to locate the suspects.
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The male suspect is described as approximately 5’11”, heavy-set, wearing a black hoodie with a white cross on the zipper, gray pants, black and tan Nike shoes, a dark colored winter jacket and a face mask. The female suspect is described as approximately 5’9”, heavy-set, wearing a black hoodie with sparkles or gem-like lettering on the front, dark pants, white tennis shoes, and a black and blue winter coat.
