Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Battery in the city of Champaign - 3-16-20
March 16, 2020
On March 1, 2020 at approximately 11:13 p.m., two male victims were approached outside One Stop Food and Liquor at 701 North Neil Street in Champaign and asked to make change for $20.00. One victim pulled out his
wallet and the suspects attempted to grab it causing the wallet and the currency inside to fall to the ground. During a struggle for the money, one victim was pushed backwards. The suspects fled and one suspect brandished a knife as the other victim attempted to follow. Missing from the wallet was a total of $1,460.00.
The suspects were described as black males in their 20’s. The first wearing a light blue hoodie, jeans and white shoes, and the second wearing a dark blue hoodie with a white stripe, red shirt, dark jeans, and yellow/black shoes. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the subjects who were captured on video.
Theft in the City of Champaign - 3-9-20

Sometime between 8:00 p.m. on February 28, 2020 and 6:00 a.m. on February 29, 2020, unknown subject(s) stole three catalytic converters from U-Haul trucks in the U-Haul business parking lot at 306 East University Avenue in Champaign. Replacement cost including labor for each truck is approximately $1,200.00.
Commercial Burglaries in the Village of Mahomet - 3-2-20

In the overnight hours of Tuesday, February 18, 2020 an unknown subject(s) forced or attempted to force entry into five businesses in Mahomet. Three of the businesses were located in the 100 block of South Lincoln Street and two were located on East Oak Street. The suspect(s) left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Theft in the City of Champaign - 2-24-20
February 24, 2020
On February 18, 2020 at approximately 2:58 p.m., a male entered Arrowhead Lanes, located at 1401 N. McKinley Avenue in Champaign, and proceeded to the office. Once inside the office, the male stole two bank bags from an open safe. The suspect made away with approximately $1,000.00.
The suspect was described as a black male, 5’7 and 160 lbs. last seen wearing a white jacket, dark pants, and red/white shoes. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the subject who was captured
on video.
Burglaries in the City of Champaign - 2-17-20
February 17, 2020
On February 11, 2020 between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., a subject forced entry into three area businesses in search of cash. The businesses involved were Ippatsu Hair Salon at 73 Chester Street, Manzella’s Italian Patio at 115 S. First Street and Byers Vacuum at 77 E. University Avenue, all in Champaign. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect appeared to be a black male wearing a black coat with a white hoodie underneath. Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the subject who was captured on video.
Theft in the City of Champaign - 2-10-20
February 10, 2020
On January 15, 2020 at approximately 6:45 p.m., a subject entered Sam’s Club, located at 915 W. Marketview Drive in Champaign. The subject loaded three televisions onto a cart and waited for the entry door to be unattended. He then fled with the stolen property. It was reported the same suspect was also involved in the theft of five televisions from Sam’s Club on December 30, 2019.
The suspect was described as a black male in his 50’s, last seen wearing glasses, a black stocking cap, brown coat with a gray hooded jacket underneath and a white shirt.
Armed Robbery in the Village of Rantoul - 2-3-20
February 03, 2020
On Saturday, January 18, 2020 at approximately 11:25 a.m., a subject entered the Verizon store, located at 322 East Champaign Avenue in Rantoul. The subject displayed a handgun and directed the employee to the storage room. The subject forced the employee to open the safe and place the contents into a bag. The suspect fled the business on foot with numerous iPhones, iPads and Samsung Galaxy phones.
The suspect was described as a black male, 5’10” tall, wearing a blue jacket with the hood up and a scarf over his face, and dark-colored pants. He was last observed walking eastbound in the alley behind the business.
Bank Robbery in the city of Champaign - 1-27-20

On January 22, 2020, at approximately 4:46 p.m., officers responded to the First Mid Bank and Trust located at 2911 Crossing Court for reports of a bank robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun, jumped the counter and demanded money. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of currency.
The suspect is believed to be a male and approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall with a thin build. The suspect was seen wearing light blue jeans, a green and blue colored hooded sweatshirt, gloves, tan boots and a skeleton face mask.
Bank Robbery in the City of Champaign - 1-21-20
January 21, 2020
On January 10, 2020 at approximately 11:15 a.m., officers responded to First Midwest Bank located at 812 West Springfield Avenue in Champaign for a bank robbery. Employees advised a female had entered the bank and demanded money while implying she had a weapon. The female suspect fled in a silver sedan which was later found to be stolen.
The suspect was described as a black female in her 20’s with long black hair believed to be a wig. She was approximately 5’6” tall and was last seen wearing dark sunglasses, a gray shirt, green/red flannel shirt and blue jeans.
Retail Theft in the City of Champaign - 1-13-20
January 13, 2020
On Saturday, January 4, 2020 within thirty minutes of each other, retail thefts occurred at two businesses; T- Mobile at 2504 N. Prospect Avenue and Disc Replay at 2012 N. Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The same male and female are believed to be suspects in both thefts. Items stolen included cell phones and a tablet with a combined value of over $3,000.00.
The first suspect was a black male in his 20s, wearing a white stocking cap, a pink and black Looney Tunes jacket, light washed jeans and earrings in both ears. The second suspect was a black female in her 20s, wearing a navy blue coat, distressed jeans, and carrying a brown or yellow purse. The female had long braided hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Armed Robberies and Burglaries of Motor Vehicles in Champaign - 1-6-20
January 06, 2020
On December 7, 2019 at 1:18 a.m., a victim was robbed at gunpoint and hit in the face with the gun. While delivering food for Asian Noodle & Sushi restaurant, the victim was confronted by three black males. One male brandished a handgun and the other males assisted in the robbery. Along with stealing the food, the victim’s pockets were searched and ID’s, money cards, and cash were taken. The victim’s vehicle had also been ransacked.
On December 15, 2019 at 8:36 p.m., another delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint. It was reported that four black males approached the victim, one brandishing a firearm. The male with the gun pushed the barrel of the pistol into the victim’s side. The suspects stole the food, delivered from China King, along with the victim’s purse, phone, cash, and jewelry. The victim’s vehicle had also been rummaged through.
On December 17, 2019 at 5:31 a.m., a victim was robbed at gunpoint while walking to her vehicle. Four black males surrounded the victim and the male with the gun pointed the muzzle to the side of the victim’s head. He also used the gun to hit her in the head. The suspects stole the victim’s purse and cell phone before the robbery was interrupted by witnesses.
The suspects were all described as black males with thin builds in their late teens to early twenties. The suspects were all wearing sweatshirts and jeans. It is believed these robberies could all be related.
Retail Theft and Aggravated Battery in the City of Champaign
December 23, 2019
On December 12, 2019 at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a retail theft at Target, located at 2102 N. Prospect Avenue in Champaign. Two females concealed several items and when confronted by asset protection, a small struggle ensued with one suspect pushing past the employee and the other kicking them as the suspects fled.
The suspects were black females in their 30’s. One suspect was 5’09, 300 lbs., with long braids and was wearing a camo and orange Nike sweatshirt with black pants. The second suspect was described as 5’6, 150 lbs., wearing a black jacket and light-colored blue jeans. The suspects left the area in a black SUV.
Shots Fired in Urbana
December 16, 2019
On Thursday, December 12, 2019 at approximately 4:10 p.m., police officers responded to the report of shots fired in the 800 block of Oakland Avenue in Urbana. Officers arrived and located a black Audi sedan in the parking lot of the apartment complex riddled with bullet holes. It was later determined the Audi had previously been reported stolen from Chicago.
Preliminary information would indicate that multiple people were standing near the Audi when another vehicle drove up, approached the group and at least one person stepped out of the offender’s vehicle and began shooting. At this time, no one has reported to police as being injured by gunfire.
Residential Burglary in the rural Town of Longview

On Friday, November 8th, 2019, Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in rural Longview, Illinois (Crittenden Township) for report of a residential burglary. The suspect made entry to the residence through an
unsecured window and stole property. The suspect was caught on video surveillance.
The suspect is described as a middle-aged white male, approximately 50-60 years old, heavier set, with little hair, and glasses. At the time of this offense the male was seen wearing a brown (khaki) colored Carhartt style coat, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
Burglary and Credit Card Theft in the City of Urbana
December 02, 2019
On Sunday, October 27, 2019 at approximately 1:00 P.M., unknown suspect(s) broke into a locked vehicle at the Urbana Dog Park. The suspect(s) broke the window to gain access to the victim’s purse on the front seat and stole it. Approximately ten minutes later, a suspect was caught on camera using the victim’s credit card at Wal-Mart in Urbana.
The suspect was described as a white female, 25 to 35 years old, 5’07”-5’10” tall with a neck tattoo. She was last seen wearing a very distinctive black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
Theft of Motor Vehicle in Rantoul
November 25, 2019
On Sunday, November 17, 2019 at approximately 2:36 P.M., a 2012 Ford Edge was stolen from the 800 block of N. Maplewood Drive in Rantoul. The vehicle was left running and unattended in the driveway of the residence. Upon exiting the residence a few minutes later, the owner discovered the vehicle missing. The
vehicle was recovered in Champaign on November 18, 2019 after being involved in a hit and run accident. There is no suspect information at this time.
Law enforcement is reminding citizens to not leave their vehicles running and unattended, as there have been multiple incidents of vehicles being stolen while left running to warm up.
Retail Theft in the City of Champaign
November 12, 2019
On September 15, 2019 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a female suspect stole merchandise from Menards, located at 620 W. Town Center Boulevard in Champaign. The female was observed concealing several types of copper
wire in her purse and leaving the store without paying for it. The copper wire was valued at over $900.00.
The suspect was described as a white female with brown hair, 45-55 years old with a medium build. She was last seen wearing a gray shirt, dark pants and carrying a large purse. The female arrived with a male in a dark colored Ford Explorer with driver’s side front end damage.
Criminal Damage and Attempted Burglary in the City of Champaign
November 04, 2019
On October 26, 2019 at approximately 9:56 a.m., two males broke into a display case at Walmart, located at 2610 N. Prospect Avenue in Champaign, and attempted to steal electronic game consoles. The males started toward the exits with the merchandise but left the cart behind and fled when approached by management. The game consoles were valued at over $3,000.00.
The two suspects were both black males, 26 to 32 years of age. The first male was wearing a black hat, black and blue jacket, and dark pants. The second was wearing a camo hat, black hoodie, an orange reflective vest, and dark pants. It’s believed the males fled the area in a black over tan SUV, similar in style to an Oldsmobile Bravada.

On October 15, 2019 at approximately 10:25 a.m., a male suspect attempted to steal a victim’s purse as she exited her vehicle in the parking lot of Schnucks, located at 109 N. Mattis Avenue in Champaign. The suspect began punching the victim in the face and also punched a second victim who tried to help.
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’9 to 6’0 tall, 190 lbs., and between 40-50 years old. He was last seen wearing a black White Sox hat, black jacket and dark jeans with white on the pockets.
Fraudulent use of Debit Cards in Urbana and Rantoul
October 21, 2019
In the late evening hours of Thursday, October 10th, a victim inadvertently lost his wallet. Within minutes after his last legitimate purchase, numerous unauthorized purchases were made at gas/convenience stores in Urbana
and Rantoul totaling over $1,500.00. The suspects purchased gas, food items, cell phone cards, scratch off lottery tickets, alcohol and cigarettes.
There were five suspects described as being in their late 20’s to early-mid 40’s, with the following descriptions.
Male #1 – is a black male, 6’0, 200 lbs., wearing a gray Nike sweat suit.
Male #2 – is a black male, 5’6, 140 lbs., wearing a red sweatshirt and black pants.
Female #1 – is a black female, 5’2, 130 lbs., wearing a black shirt and distressed blue jeans.
Female #2 – is a black female, 5’10, 200 lbs., wearing a light blue and white Nike track suit bearing her midriff.
Female #3 – is a black female, 5’5, 165 lbs., wearing a dark Adidas tracksuit.
Male #1 signed all of the receipts with the alias ‘Richard Smith’.
The five suspects were connected to three vehicles, a gray or taupe Toyota Highlander, a blue Ford Edge and a Ford Fusion.
