On Thursday, March 5th, a fraudulent credit card was used to make multiple cash withdrawals at a Champaign ATM. The suspect, a black male, has tattoos on the back of his right hand and wrist. The tattoo on his right wrist appears to say “Simon” or possibly “Simone” (or something similar) in script/cursive lettering.

A to Z Liquors, located at 1243 East Grove in the Maple Grove Shopping Center in Rantoul, was broken into on Saturday, March 21st, at approximately 1:40 a.m.
Surveillance video shows the suspect is a tall white male, possibly in his 20’s. At the time of the break-in, he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Prior to the burglary, the white male was observed on video surveillance with a shorter black male outside the store. The two were having an in-depth conversation prior to walking away. The white male returned to the store a few minutes later and broke out the front glass door. The white male then entered the store for a short period of time. He fled after activating the store’s alarm system.

The Champaign Police Department is seeking information regarding two incidents involving burglaries to vehicles and the subsequent use of stolen credit cards.
On the evening of Thursday, April 2nd, officers took two separate reports of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the parking lot at the YMCA, located at 2501 Fields South Drive, in southwest Champaign. Both incidents occurred between approximately 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. In one incident, a light blue Coach brand purse and its contents were taken; in the other incident, a wallet containing two credit cards and a driver’s license was taken out of the purse, but the purse and the rest of its contents were left behind.
The stolen credit cards were then used at approximately 7:25 p.m. at Target, located on North Prospect Avenue, Champaign. The suspect was observed on surveillance video purchasing two $700 gift cards.
According to surveillance video, the suspect who used the credit cards appears to be a heavyset white female with dark shoulder-length hair. She exited Target and was picked up by another subject driving a white van.
On Friday, March 27th, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office responded to 314 North Cottonwood (John Deere) Road, Urbana, for a report of batteries stolen from combines between the dates of January 1st and March 26th, 2015.
Eight (8) John Deere combine batteries were stolen from combines parked on the lot. The stolen batteries were all model or part number “TY25879A”. The total value of the stolen batteries is approximately $2,387.60.

On Thursday, March 19th, at approximately 10:01 a.m., Champaign police officers responded to Marine Bank, located at 1001 S. Neil Street, for a reported bank robbery alarm. Upon arrival, it was determined that an armed robbery had occurred and an undetermined amount of currency had been taken. No injuries were reported by bank employees.
The suspect was described as a black male with a thin build, approx. 25 years of age, 5’6” tall and 160 lbs. He was wearing a Captain American costume shirt and mask. The shirt was red, white and blue and had a large star on the chest. The mask displayed the letter “A” on the front and partially covered the suspect’s face. The suspect also wore dark-colored pants with white striping on the side of the pant leg and white tennis shoes. He was armed with a handgun and was last seen fleeing from the bank on foot toward Randolph Street.
On Thursday, March 12th, at approximately 11:59 a.m., the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Urbana Police Department, responded to the area of South Dodson Drive and East Washington Street, Urbana, for a report of shots fired.
A victim was later located, and it was determined that the victim suffered a non-life threatening injury to the buttocks area. Information was gathered that a light-skinned black male in his 20’s was seen shooting from the passenger side door of a large white or light blue 4-door SUV with black tinted windows.
A total of 4 to 5 shots were fired during this incident. The suspect vehicle was last seen fleeing eastbound on Washington Street in Urbana.

During the overnight hours of Friday, February 27th to Saturday, February 28th, unknown person(s) forcibly entered a construction trailer located near the grain elevators located in the 400 block of E. Coffeen Street, Homer. Once inside, suspect(s) stole items, presumably for their scrap metal value. This was the second occurrence at that location within two months.

On Saturday, February 28th, at 2:33 a.m., officers responded to a fight involving 20 to 30 subjects in the parking lot behind the High Dive bar, located at 51 E. Main St., Champaign. As the first officer arrived on the scene, he advised that he heard a gunshot and observed a subject collapse to the ground. Subjects in multiple vehicles subsequently fled the scene at high rates of speed.
Witnesses advised they observed a black male fire a handgun into the crowd.
The 22 year old male victim sustained life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Champaign Police investigators are seeking any witnesses who might have photos or videos pertaining to this incident.

The Champaign Police Department is seeking witnesses to an accident involving a pedestrian and an MTD bus. The accident occurred at 2:41 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25th, at Walnut Street and Logan Street, east of Christie Clinic.

Information is being sought regarding two recent burglaries at Activewear, a clothing store located at 1505 North Prospect Avenue, Champaign.
The first incident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th. The suspect forced entry to the business by throwing a large rock through the glass in the front door. The suspect entered the business, grabbed numerous pairs of “Rock Revival” brand jeans, and then exited the store, leaving the area southbound on foot.
The unknown suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and /or jacket, dark colored pants or jeans, and was wearing a backpack. Based on surveillance video, no further specifics were able to be determined regarding the suspect description.
The second incident occurred at approximately 4:48 a.m. on Friday, February 13th. This time, two suspects forced entry to the business by breaking a window with a piece of concrete. They both entered the store, grabbed random clothing items, and then fled on foot. Suspect #1 was wearing a black sweatshirt with a distinct white North Face brand emblem on the chest and blue jeans. Suspect #2 was wearing a black hoodie with jeans and black shoes, possibly with white laces and white soles.

On January 23rd, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Champaign PD received a report of an incident involving credit card fraud that occurred at Simply Mac, located in Market Place Mall (2000 N. Neil St.).
The manager advised that on the previous day (January 22nd) at the Simply Mac store in Rockford, IL, the suspect opened a fraudulent store account. When the suspect was asked for identification, he provided a Wisconsin driver’s license and a credit card. The employee was concerned with the quality of the driver’s license and requested additional identification, at which time the suspect abruptly left the store.
On January 23rd, shortly after 3:00 p.m., the same suspect came into the Simply Mac store at Market Place Mall in Champaign. Using the fraudulent store account, the suspect purchased two MacBook Pro laptop computers valued at $2,499 each, an Applecare MacBook Pro Auto valued at $349.99, two Apple TV jacks for $99.99 each, and an Applecare MacBook Pro extended warranty for $349.99. The total of the items, including tax, was approximately $6,050. The manager advised the store was busy at the time the items were purchased, and store employees did not realize this was the same fraudulent account that had been opened in the Rockford store the day before.
The suspect in both cases is a black male, approximately 5’9” tall, 200 lbs., and at the time of the Champaign incident, was wearing a blue or brown colored “beanie” type hat and a brown coat. (See photo).

On Friday, January 9th, at 10:03 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Murphy USA gas station, located at 2602 North Prospect Avenue, Champaign.
An employee advised that a subject entered the store and displayed a handgun. The suspect threw a black backpack onto the counter and told the employee to fill it with money from the cash register. The employee complied and the suspect left via the west doors of the business and ran south from the store.
The suspect is a black male who appeared to be in his 20’s, approximately 5’8” to 5’10” tall, with an athletic build. He had red fabric covering his face, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black or dark jeans.
SUBJECT IDENTIFIED AND ARRESTED
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an arson that occurred at 2270 CR 1300 N in St. Joseph Township. The unoccupied dwelling was reported to be on fire at approximately 1:25 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Damage caused by the fire was estimated at approximately $22,000.
SUBJECT IDENTIFIED AND ARRESTED
On October 15, 2014, at approximately 12:24 p.m., officers of the Rantoul Police Department were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel for an armed robbery. The suspect was gone upon officers’ arrival.
An employee stated a white male came through the side door on the west side of the building, walked into the motel lobby, and approached the counter. After the employee walked behind the front desk, the white male pulled a silver handgun from a brown “satchel”. The suspect pointed the gun at the employee and demanded money, which the employee provided. The suspect then left via the same west door and walked southbound.
The employee described the suspect as a white male, approximately 40 years of age, approx. 5’9” to 5’11” with a heavy build, and wearing a tan baseball hat, dark colored coat and shirt, and dark colored jeans.
On Sunday, January 11th, at approximately 9:45 p.m., two subjects entered the Courier Café, located at 111 North Race Street in Urbana. The subjects displayed a handgun to employees, and subsequently left the business with cash.
On that night, the weather was very cold and icy, and the business had closed early. The subjects approached the front door but found it locked, and then went to an unlocked side door and entered. They announced a hold-up and demanded cash from the register. One of the subjects displayed a black semi-automatic handgun, but did not point it at anyone. One of the subjects made a comment to his accomplice and called him “Chico” when he spoke to him.
The descriptions of the suspects are limited. One was believed to be a black male, and the second suspect was lighter complected, but his race was less discernable. They were both approximate 6’ tall and had thin builds. Both were wearing black ski masks, black coats that extended below their waists, and black gloves.
Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a series of incidents that occurred in the Hunter’s Ridge subdivision of Mahomet.
The Mahomet Police Department is investigating a series of incidents that occurred on Timber Wolf Drive. During the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, several reports were taken of car tires being cut or otherwise deflated. One incident involved a resident confronting the suspects, chasing them, and after catching one of the suspects, being cut by some sort of a blade.
The suspects have been described as three teenage males. Two were described as having skinny builds, and the third was described as being approximately 5’11” tall and weighing 185 pounds. All were wearing black clothing. One was wearing a ski mask, the second was wearing a ball cap, and the third was wearing a a stocking cap.
The males were last seen running into the Sandy Ridge subdivision.

On the afternoon of Friday, December 19th, a female was walking on the sidewalk on the west side of Crescent Drive in the area by Sholem Pool. She observed two male subjects in the park. One of the males approached her and asked to use her phone. When she told him he couldn’t use her phone, he grabbed her and groped her. She was able to pull away and ran from the male offender.
The male offender is described as a dark-skinned black male, possibly high school age. At the time the incident occurred, he was wearing a blue stocking hat and a puffy blue vest.
The second male subject, who was with the offender but did not approach the victim, was described as a black male wearing a white jacket.

On Monday, December 22, 2014, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Champaign police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 400 block of Brookwood Drive.
Upon arrival, officers located evidence of a shooting and two victims. One of the victims found at the scene was a 40 year old Champaign man, who was deceased. The second victim was a 35 year old Urbana man, who was transported to Carle Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are currently interviewing several individuals who were present at the scene and are processing evidence related to the shooting. At this time, no arrests have been made.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in the theft of a television from Wal-Mart in Savoy.
The theft occurred on Sunday, Nov. 16th, at approximately 5:35 p.m. The suspect, a black male, was dressed in attire similar to that of store employees’ uniforms. He entered a storage room, placed a television on a cart, and left the store without paying for the item. The television was a 55” model with a retail value of approximately $800.
Witnesses described seeing a gold colored vehicle which may have been involved with the theft incident.
The Champaign Police Department is investigating an incident of criminal sexual abuse that occurred in the 200 block of East Healey Street on Tuesday, December 2nd, at approximately 5:42 p.m.
The female victim advised she was en route to her apartment and entered the south stairwell of the complex. She observed a male subject coming down the stairs toward her, and when they were both approximately in the middle of the stairway, the male pushed her against the wall and groped her. The victim managed to push the male away, and the male then fled the stairwell, running eastbound from the apartment complex.
The male suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 6’00” tall, with a stocky build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black stocking cap with a black scarf covering the lower portion of this face below his eyes, a heavy black coat and all black clothing.
