Crime Stoppers and Champaign Police investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating four suspects in a credit card fraud ring.
In this incident, the victim, who lives out of town, was visiting Champaign on Saturday, March 2nd. She happened to check her credit card statement the next day after returning home, and realized that her credit card had been used to make two unauthorized purchases, in addition to several more attempts that were declined. She then determined that her entire wallet was missing from her purse.
The unauthorized purchases were made at Target on North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. Video surveillance photos were obtained from the store and indicate that the suspects are four females.
Suspect 1: White female, wearing a dark coat
Suspect 2: Black female, thin, wearing a light colored ball cap and a long black parka with a large fur collar
Suspect 3: Black female, heavy build, wearing a dark head covering, a dark coat, and dark pants
Suspect 4: Black female, wearing a bright red puffy coat

The Champaign Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking information regarding an armed robbery.
On Monday, March 18th, at approximately 2:47 a.m., a cab driver was putting gas in his vehicle at the Mobil Super Pantry, located at 1511 North Prospect Avenue, Champaign. The suspect approached the cab driver from the south side of the building, and displayed a gun. The suspect took an unspecified amount of money from the victim, and was then observed to flee west and then south on foot.
The suspect was described as a black male in his mid 20’s, 5’10” tall, with a medium build, and wearing a black sweatshirt and dark colored pants.
This week, Crime Stoppers and the Urbana Police Department are seeking your assistance in solving a residential burglary in Urbana.
Sometime before 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25th, entry was made to a residence in the 1000 block of Wabash Avenue. The resident arrived home to find that a basement window had been removed. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a several electronic items (including two MacBook Pro notebooks, an iPad and a Kindle Fire tablet), and a pink sapphire necklace and earrings were stolen. Surveillance video recovered at the scene shows two black males, approximately 20 years of age, gaining entry to the residence. Crime Stoppers and the Champaign Police Department are seeking assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in an incident involving retail theft and aggravated battery.
On Sunday, January 27th, at 3:21 p.m., a loss prevention associate observed two female subjects stealing merchandise from Bergner’s at Market Place Mall. The loss prevention associate stopped the two females outside of the store. One of the suspects, a black female (Suspect #1), punched the loss prevention associate in the mouth. Both suspects then fled on foot. The suspects were recorded on security video. The Bergner’s loss prevention associate did not require medical treatment.
Police are still looking for Suspect #1, described as a black female, 19 years of age. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a pink plaid jacket (see photos).

The University of Illinois Police Department is seeking help with the identification of a suspect involved in an arson near the University of Illinois Oak Street Library Facility (OSL), located at 809 S. Oak Street in Champaign. On Thursday, 02/07/13, at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to assist the Champaign Fire Department with a fire in the south parking lot of the Oak Street Library. The fire was called in by a passing delivery driver. As officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a trash dumpster on fire near the southwest corner of the OSL building. The fire was quickly extinguished before any damage occurred to the building or vehicles parked next to the dumpster.
UIPD Investigators were able to locate video of the suspect lighting the dumpster on fire at approximately 9:00 p.m.
The suspect is described as a large white male, approximately 30-40 years old, with dark hair that appears to be trimmed around the sides, with longer but thinning hair on top. The suspect was wearing a gray zip-up hooded sweat shirt, dark jeans, and black high top boots or shoes with light colored laces.
UPDATE 3/2/13: Dale Stump reportedly surrendered to Urbana Police on February 28th after seeing he was profiled by Crime Stoppers.
The Urbana Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a subject wanted for theft of steel from a construction site. The wanted subject is Dale Stump, 45 years of age, white male, approximately 6’ tall, 180 lbs., with dark hair and brown eyes.
Stump is also wanted on a Champaign County warrant for Forgery, with a bond of $10,000.

Crime Stoppers and the Champaign Police Department are seeking assistance regarding a shooting that occurred in the 2000 block of Cynthia Drive on Sunday, February 3rd, at 10:30 p.m. At 10:36 p.m., officers responded to the area and made contact with a 40 year old male victim, who reported that he was approached by two males who were known to him. The two males fired multiple shots at him. The two suspects then fled the area on foot and have not been located at this time. No injuries were reported in this incident.
On Monday, February 4th, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Quintin M. Brown (21 years of age) of Champaign. Brown is wanted for the offense of Attempted Murder with Intent to Kill or Injure.

The Champaign Police Department is seeking information regarding two burglaries that occurred at the Discount Tobacco Warehouse, located at 1722 West Bradley Avenue, Champaign.
The first burglary occurred on December 25th, 2012, at approximately 8:08 p.m., and the second burglary occurred on January 18th, 2013, at approximately 1:10 a.m.
The suspect in both burglaries is believed to be a white male, approximately 25 to 35 years of age, with facial hair on his chin. In the first burglary, the suspect was observed to be a passenger in a blue or silver 1995 – 2001 Chevrolet Lumina.

The Champaign Police Department and University of Illinois Police Department are investigating an incident involving mob action and aggravated battery.
On Saturday, January 19th, at approximately 2:22 a.m., the three male victims had just left Joe’s Brewery and were walking in the area of Fourth Street and Green Street, when a group of eight to ten males began yelling at them from the other side of the street. When the three male victims crossed the street at the intersection, they were approached from behind and attacked by the larger group of males.
One of the victims was struck on the side of the head and fell to the ground. He tried to get up, but was punched and kicked in the head and body. The second victim was struck from behind and fell to the ground. He stated he tried to defend himself, but was dazed and unable to remember what happened at that point. The third victim was also approached from behind and punched in the side of the head. The three victims sought medical attention. At the time of the report, it was believed that one of the victims had a broken jaw and lost a tooth, and another victim was believed to have suffered a broken nose as a result of the attacks.
The suspects were described as a group of eight to ten black males, approximately 19 to 20 years of age, approximately 6’ tall and 190 lbs., clean shaven, and wearing jeans. One of the suspects was wearing a black baseball cap with a red bill (possibly a Chicago Bulls hat).

The University of Illinois Police Department is seeking help with the identification of a subject involved in the theft of a wallet from an unknown location at the University of Illinois campus. The theft occurred sometime between November 4th and November 6th, 2012. The victim reported that he was unaware that his wallet had been stolen from his backpack, until he was reviewing his bank account several days later and noticed several unauthorized charges to the account. The victim reported several identification items, bank cards and cash were inside the stolen wallet. While investigating the unauthorized use of the victims’ debit card, UIPD Investigators were able to retrieve security video of the suspect using the victim’s debit card to make an unauthorized purchase at Panera Bread Company, located at 616 E Green, Champaign, on November 8th. The suspect located in the video, shown using the victim’s debit card, is described as an Asian male, approximately 18-23 years old, black medium length hair, approximately 5’5” - 5’8” tall, average build, approximately 140 - 160 lbs, Suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a green and white design on the front, dark jeans, and white tennis shoes, carrying a brown or maroon colored backpack

During the overnight hours of Thursday, January 10th, unknown subjects entered the property of Laborers International Union Local 703, located at 108 East Anthony Drive, Urbana. The unknown subjects stole copper tubing, copper coils, and copper condensers from four separate air conditioning units on the property. Three of the air conditioning units were rooftop units. An estimated loss valued at $20,500 was reported.

The Champaign Police Department is investigating multiple reports of gun violence after responding to a shooting and several reports of shots fired on Sunday, January 6th.
At 4:30 a.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Holly Hill reported to officers that several rounds were fired into the residence. One of the rounds penetrated the wall of a child’s bedroom. The 10 year old was sleeping in another room at the time of the incident and was not injured. This incident may have stemmed from an altercation that occurred earlier the same night at Bradley’s II, located at 1906 W. Bradley Ave. No suspects have been identified at this time.
At 7:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Holly Hill Drive for a report of a shooting. A 23 year old male gunshot victim reported being shot while watching television in his living room with friends. There were eight additional occupants in the home, but none were injured. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The victim is an employee of Bradley’s II, located at 1906 W. Bradley Ave.
At 11:12 p.m., in the 1500 block of Holly Hill Drive, several residents reported hearing gunshots, but could not identify a specific location or source. Two residents then discovered that several of the rounds had entered their
homes. No injuries were reported in either incident. No suspects have been identified at this time. A possible suspect vehicle is described as being an orange or red Pontiac Grand Am or Pontiac Bonneville.

The Champaign Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying a suspect who committed three retail thefts.
• The first theft occurred on September 3 at CVS, located at 243 S. Mattis Avenue, Champaign.
• The second theft occurred the same day at Meijer, located at 2401 N. Prospect Avenue, Champaign.
• The third theft occurred on September 13 at the same CVS location.
Liquor was taken in all three thefts. The suspect is a heavy set black male, who was wearing glasses and bracelets in all three incidents. If you know this suspect or have any information, notify Crime Stoppers!
Crime Stoppers and the Champaign Police Department are seeking information regarding an incident involving home invasion, armed robbery, and first degree murder.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:22 p.m. on Monday, December 17th, in the 200 block of East Roper Street, Champaign. Officers responded to a scene in which two adult males had been shot. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries. One of the victims and a witness advised that two black male suspects entered the residence, armed with guns and firing shots, and demanded money. One of the suspects took cash from one of the victims, and the suspects then left the residence. The suspects are described as two black males wearing black hooded sweatshirts, with scarves covering their faces.

This week, Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking information regarding a series of burglaries that occurred in Mahomet.
During the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 22nd) an unknown person or persons forced entry into five businesses in Mahomet. Three of the businesses are located on Main Street, and two are located in Eastwood Plaza. The suspect(s) forced entry to the businesses by prying open doors or breaking windows. The Mahomet Police Department is seeking any information you may have with regards to these crime.

On Saturday, December 8th, at approximately 9:47 p.m., a robbery occurred on campus in front of the Siebel Center, located at 201 North Goodwin Avenue, Urbana. The female victim advised University of Illinois police officers that as she was riding her bicycle outside of the main entrance to Siebel Center, a male walked past her and grabbed her purse from her arm. The male suspect then ran northbound.
A short time later, officers were able to locate and recover the purse and its contents, with the exception of the money, near the Coordinated Science Lab (CSL), located at 1308 W. Main, Urbana.
The U of I Police Department continues to seek information regarding the identity and whereabouts of the suspect. The suspect is described as a medium to dark-skinned black male in his mid-20’s, between 5’05” and 5’09” tall, with a small to medium build. He was last seen wearing a red knit-type hat with single red braided material hanging down on each side near the ears; the hat also had a white interior, and the bill was folded up above the suspect’s head. He was also wearing a dark orange or red sweatshirt with dark pants or jeans.
Crime Stoppers and the Champaign Police Department are seeking information regarding an armed robbery that occurred on Thursday, November 29th, at 11:50 p.m. at the Circle K located at 2315 West Springfield Avenue, Champaign.
The suspects are two black males. Each was wearing a white scarf or handkerchief to cover his face. They were both described as being short with a medium or slim build. One of the suspects was armed with a large butcher knife. After the robbery, the suspects fled south on Kenwood Road.

On Monday, September 10th, the victim’s wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping at Hobby Lobby in Champaign. Several credit cards from the wallet were then used to make fraudulent purchases at various locations (including Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy) in Champaign and at various locations in Kankakee. According to surveillance video, the suspect in these incidents is a black female. Images from surveillance video are provided below.
