2014 Damian Henderson Homicide - 11/14/22
November 14, 2022

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a homicide. On November 17, 2014, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Damian Henderson was believed to be shot and killed in the 0-100 block of Forsythia Drive in Champaign. The following morning, November 18, 2014, at 8.13 a.m., officers were dispatched to this location for a check welfare where Henderson was found unresponsive in a vehicle.

Champaign Burglaries - 11/7/22
November 07, 2022

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding recent burglaries. During the overnight hours of September 8, September 22, and October 14, 2022, unknown suspects entered a storage site for Three Phase Line Construction, located at 904 North Walnut Street in Champaign. Officers learned the suspects gained entry to the site by cutting a fence. Once inside, suspects stole construction equipment and tools valued at over $15,000. The suspects also damaged toolboxes attempting to pry them open. Images of a suspect and person of interest were located utilizing security camera video. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video. The suspect appears to be a black male with a medium build. The person of interest appears to be a white male with long light-brown or reddish hair, a beard, and tattoos on his neck.

Bicycle Thefts - 10-31-22
October 31, 2022

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding bicycle thefts.

Between September 12-25, 2022, multiple thefts were reported near the bicycle racks at the Campus Instructional Facility, located at 1405 West Springfield Avenue in Urbana. Images of a suspect were located utilizing security camera video.
 
A single suspect was determined to be responsible for at least four
of these thefts. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying a subject captured on video. The suspect appears to be a white male with brown hair, possibly in his 30’s.

Champaign Shooting 10/24/2022
October 24, 2022

On October 4, 2022, at approximately 5:48 p.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of North Third Street for a report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located 25-year-old Rashaud Weatherall who had sustained multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers on-scene immediately rendered medical aid with the assistance of the Champaign Fire Department. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Minutes after the shooting, two more victims arrived at an area hospital by personal transport. A 20-year-old male and a 28-year-old male, both from Champaign sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were treated and released. The initial investigation indicates that the victims were standing in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Third Street, near Bradley Avenue when a vehicle approached and the occupants opened fire. The vehicle then fled the area.

Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.



Retail Theft 10/17/2022
October 17, 2022

On October 10, 2022, at approximately 5:15 PM, two individuals entered Walmart at 100 South High Cross Road in Urbana. The individuals selected over $500 in merchandise and proceeded to the self-checkout lanes. The two suspects “skip scanned” much of the merchandise and then attempted to pay for the remainder of the items with a credit card that declined payment. They bagged all items and exited the store without rendering payment.

The first suspect was described as a white male approximately 60 years old, average height and medium build. He wore a blue hat with the letter E on it, glasses, navy blue t-shirt, blue jeans, brown wristwatch and white or grey Chuck Taylor type shoes.

The second suspect was described as a black female approximately 50 years old, average height and thin build with long hair or wig. She wore a black hat with white lettering, a multi-colored tie dye jacket, black leather or pleather pants and black shoes with white soles.

Rantoul Shooting 9/16/22
October 10, 2022

On September 16, 2022, at approximately 12:24 PM, Rantoul Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of St. Andrews Circle for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located a residence damaged by gunfire and additional evidence shots had been fired. Officers were able to locate security camera footage from the area that depicts a potential suspect.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying a subject captured on video. The suspect appears to be wearing a dark-colored jacket, dark-colored athletic-style pants with a vertical white stripe along the leg, and white shoes.
 
Police are asking any businesses or anyone in the involved neighborhood with surveillance cameras to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area either prior to or after the incident.

Champaign shooting
October 03, 2022

On September 16, 2022, at approximately 7:48 p.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of West Springfield Avenue for a report of a shooting with injury. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old victim from Champaign with multiple non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the legs. Responding officers immediately rendered medical aid until an ambulance could arrive. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is recovering from his injuries.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest captured on video. The male appeared to be a white or light-skinned black male, approximately 18-20 years old, wearing a navy-blue Nike hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.

Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.

Burglary from Champaign Business - 9-26-22
September 26, 2022

This week Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a burglary.

During the overnight hours of September 17-18, 2022, an unknown male gained entry into a restricted area at MUTI, Midwest Underground Technology, Inc, located at 2626 Midwest Court in Champaign. Once inside, the suspect cut the locks off numerous work trailers and stole tools and equipment stored inside. The male then drove off with one of the company’s “gator” four wheelers. The loss to the business is estimated at more than $30,000.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect appeared to be wearing a white “Scream” character mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans.

Retail Theft in the City Of Champaign-09/19/2022
September 19, 2022

On August 16, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., two males entered Walmart, located at 2610 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign, and stole merchandise. Officers learned the males had concealed numerous items in a tote and left the store without paying for over $500.00 worth of merchandise. The males fled the area in a white GMC truck.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video. The suspects appeared to be two black males between 40-50 years old. One male was wearing an orange sleeveless t-shirt with an A+ Mechanicals, LLC company logo, and gray shorts. The second male was wearing a tan hat, black t-shirt, and blue jean shorts.

Retail Theft - Urbana Meijer - 9/6/2022
September 06, 2022

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft. On August 13, 2022, at approximately 5:20 PM, two males entered Meijer hypermarket in Urbana, located at 2500 Philo Road. While inside the store, the two individuals worked together to load over $1000.00 of electronics into backpacks, and then left the store without presenting the merchandise for purchase. The suspects left the area in a black Chevrolet Impala with a damaged rear window which was covered with tape and plastic. The suspects were described as follows: 1. Black male, low to mid 20s wearing a purple do-rag, yellow surgical mask, and white long sleeve MTV shirt. 2. Black male, upper 20s with a beard. He wore a black do-rag, blue surgical mask, and black zip-up sweatshirt with three white stripes on the sleeves. Both suspects left the store carrying backpacks.

Rantoul shooting 8/14/22
August 29, 2022

On August 14, 2022, at approximately 10:47 PM, the Rantoul Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Cantonment Avenue, for a report of multiple shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers learned up to three subjects, all wearing dark clothing, had approached a vehicle and began shooting into the vehicle.
Another subject wearing a red hoodie was seen shooting at another subject. Officers recovered several shell casings and located two vehicles which had been struck by gunfire.

Shooting in Champaign - 8-22-22
August 22, 2022

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting.

On August 13, 2022, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1100 block of North Third Street for the report of a large gathering and fight. Shortly after arriving on scene, officers heard dozens of gunshots and soon discovered a 19-year-old male, with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered medical aid and the victim was transported by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital. While officers were at the hospital, a second gunshot victim arrived by personal transport. This victim, a 25-year-old male, had multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims are currently in stable condition.

Police recovered dozens of shell casings and found multiple structures and vehicles had been struck by gunfire. Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area either during, before, or after the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.


Aggravated Battery - 8-15-22
August 15, 2022

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding an aggravated battery.

On August 6, 2022, at approximately 11:34 p.m., a male and female entered Green Street Pantry, located at 308 East Green Street in Champaign. Once inside an employee noticed the male appeared to be intoxicated and was threatening employees. The male grabbed and punched an employee in the face when he was advised they were not going to sell him alcohol. The subjects left the area in a white Nissan SUV.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video. The suspect appeared to be a black male, approximately 6’0” tall and 200 pounds, with tattoos on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and white-washed jeans. The white female appeared to have blonde hair and was wearing a sleeveless blue jean shirt, jeans, and had a tattoo on her back.

Retail Theft

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding retail thefts. On multiple occasions in the last two months, a male subject has entered Haymakers, located at 3501 South Fields Drive in Champaign, and stolen liquor. The male enters the store, loads a backpack with liquor, and exits on foot making no attempt to make payment. The loss of merchandise is close to $900.00. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect appeared to be a medium build black male.

Lacey's Place theft - 7/20/22

On July 20, 2022, at approximately 1:07 PM, a man entered Lacey’s Place gambling parlor at 110 East University Avenue in Urbana and sat next to a customer at a gambling machine. The suspect picked up the victim’s cell phone and immediately left the business. The phone was valued at $875. The suspect was described as a black man, medium build with a receding hairline. He wore a black Snoop Dogg t-shirt, blue jean shorts, black Nike slides, black socks, and a backpack with a red handle on the top. The suspect arrived and left on a dark colored mountain bike with an oversized comfort seat.

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.

On July 10, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a male subject entered Circle K, located at 4202 West Springfield Ave. in Champaign. The male selected liquor and cigarettes and approached the counter. He requested additional items to distract an employee and exited the store without paying for the merchandise.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The suspect was described as a black male in his 40’s, approximately 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black tank top, black gym shorts, white shoes, and had unknown tattoos on his arms.

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 07-11-2022

On July 5, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers observed a male subject with a firearm near the intersection of Springfield Avenue and Kenwood Road in Champaign. Officers attempted to make contact with the male, but he fled on foot discarding the firearm in his flight path.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video from a nearby business. The suspect appeared to be a black male in his 20’s, approximately 6’0” tall and 160-180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black mask, red hooded sweatshirt, and dark colored sweatpants.

Armed Robbery, Slim Chickens- 7/5/2022
July 05, 2022

On June 12, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m., police officers responded to Slim Chickens, located at 2037 South Neil Street in Champaign, for an armed robbery. A male armed with a handgun entered the business, ordered store employees into the office, and forced them to turn over the contents of the safe. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video. The male is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 30-40 years old, wearing blue jeans, white shoes, a black Nike hoodie, and a blue face mask. Any local businesses are asked to review their exterior security footage around the time of the offense.

Credit Card Fraud - 6/27/2022

STATUS: ARRESTED
This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding credit card fraud.
 
On March 28, 2022, two females entered a Menards in Normal, Illinois, located at 900 North Greenbriar Drive, and selected merchandise totaling over $2,600. The females paid for the items with a stolen credit card belonging to a Champaign resident.
 
On March 30, 2022, the same two females entered a Menards in Danville, Illinois located at 36 East West Newell Road. The females purchased merchandise again totaling over $2,600 and paid for the items with the same stolen credit card.
 
On April 2, 2022, the credit card was used by the females to charge over $4,800 at a Menards in Terre Haute, Indiana, located at 1888 East Jessica Drive.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video from one of the businesses. The first female appeared to be in her 30’s and was wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, an orange shirt with “CALVIN” repeated down the front, jeans, and white shoes. The second female appeared to be in her 50’s and was wearing a white hooded sweater, multicolored shirt, jeans, and white shoes. The females fled in a silver SUV with a cargo-type trunk that swings open.
